Colllnsvlle has held the conference championship for the past two seasons and has a strong team. On Saturday the Madison team will come here to play at local gymnasium. The Streeper basketball team won two games at the Lincoln gymnasium In East Alton Monday night.

Many 111 With Colds There are a. hundred or more severe cases of colds in this vicinity, but these do not necessitate quarantine, unless the physician designates them as influenza cases. So far only five cases have been really quarantined, according to tho chairman of the health committee. Card Party The American Legion Auxiliary will give a card party tonight at the Legion Hall. Prizes will be awarded.

The public Is invited. Phllathea Party The Phllathea Claw of the Baptist church held Its regular business and social meeting last night in the parlors of the church. There was a good attendance. Games were played and refreshments were served. Worthwhile Event The chairman of the Welfare Com- mltee of the Woman's Club, Mrs.

M. F. Manning, reports that her committee distributed 36 cheer baskets to the needy families, with several more articles still to be distributed. The Welfare Committee and Club are very grateful to everyone who contributed to this cause. The pupils of the public schools, high school aand parochial schools as well as others helping to make this contribution to the needy a worthwhile event.

The York family who live at 114 Acton avenue are ill with the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones of Eleventh street will move to a new home at Leslie and Ulan avenue. Mrs.
