Anmttu. 4, for less time than three months will be charged Tne Proof Reader. There Is one person in a newspaper office who, though very important, is bound, so far as the public is concerned, to pass his day in obscurity, to "blush unseen' withni a small cage where he has seldom room to either sit or stand ia comfort. This is tho proofreader. Every one knows the editor, to his cost he is bladgered, in one way and another, from morning until night nd the public hold him responsible for everything except "printers' errors," and then the printers are abused.

The very existence of the proof reader as an officer of the staff is unknown to many people. Question these, and you would find that they believe in no one intervenes between the printers and tbepubhe. save the writer 5 and pretty newspapers, books and anything else wo would have, if this were the case. In the office, however, the proofreader is a valued, though, perhaps, unappreciated, person. He is the nnseen wire puller who prevents many a disastrous error, who prevents many a grievous mistake, not properly la his pro.

"Miss Hattie Harding, who was down to July last. the mechanical execution is admirable and all that could be dr-sired, and bo far as we have had occasion in our practice, to test the accuracy ot these new indexes, we have found them entirely correct. Your committee feels that great credit is due to Mr. John A.HucI.ins, under whose directions the work has been done li cwise to the several gentleman whom he called to his assistanca. The re-3ult in our estimation, fully justifies the undertaking, and all who have occasion hereafter to examine tbe public records will feel indebted to the court for having ordered the doing of the work.

We would resnectfully urge that measures be taken to insure the of the current business in the Recorder's office in the same mauner, Loth as to accuracy aud style ol execution, as the indexes just completed. Your committee, further suggests that there are a number the eyes are weak, watery, ana iniitiuieu; there is ringing in the ears, aeainess, hack ing or coughing to clear the throat, expec toration ot otlensive matter, together witn scabs from ulcers; the voice is changed and has a nasal twang, the breath is otlensive, smell and taste are impaired; there is a sensation of dizziness, mental depression, backing cough, and general debility.
