LOCAL NEWS The top-heavy field of 19 players competing'in the Greater Los Angeles Chess Club Championship, held two, weekends ago, featured four Senior' Masters (rated over 2400) and four masters (over 2200). Three SM's, Mark Duckworth, Alan Pollard and Larry Rem-Nnger, and master Mihaly Szlovak tied for first prize at 4-1. Champion Gary Kasparov and former champion Anatoly Karpov drew three more games, extending their latest string to eight straight draws. The score is tied, in the 24-game series. If the match ends in a 12-12 tie, Kasparov will remain champion for three more years.
