Mills 68, a vice president of health affairs at Hahnemann University Hospital in the 1980s and a staff member since 1957, died Wednesday at Hahnemann of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Dr. Lewis, an endocrinologist, served in a variety of positions at both the hospital and Hahnemann University during his 34 years there. He most recently was a consultant to the hospital, and from 1985 to 1988 was director of Alternative Health Delivery Systems. When he joined the hospital, he headed up the endocrinology and metabolism section.

She was one of the founding members of the Jeptha Abbott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and headed the organization as regent from 1956 to 1959.

Dr. Mills attended Texas Technological College in Lubbock and graduated from Baylor University College of Medicine in 1946. He served two years in the Naval Medical Corps during World War II, and in 1952 and 1953 held the appointment as research fellow in endocrinology and assistant in medicine at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston.

After working for several years as a bartender for taverns in the Bridesburg area, he and his longtime companion, Joan Crane, bought a bar 16 years ago in the 7700 block of Walker Street and named it Joan Her-Man's. Mr. Biederman was a fixture at the bar on Saturday afternoons, when he would seat himself at a table and tell stories, said his stepdaughter, Andrea Scarry.
