2C FLORIDA TODAY, Tuesday, November 18, 1997 rrr 3 NFL NOTES Prep all-star rosters set Radenkovic guides Tech to 71-52 win A i yv -4 xn i Ravens: Baltimore running back Bam Morris was charged with choking a woman at a birthday party, adding to his list of legal troubles. Coach Ted Marchibroda said rookie Jay Graham would start at running back for a second consecutive week Sunday against Arizona. Jets: Quarterback Glenn Foley is out for at least one week, probably more, which means Neil O'Donnell is back at quarterback for the New York Jets. Foley sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee against Chicago. The Jets said Foley's season is not over.

Vikings: Randall Cunningham underwent minor knee surgery Monday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Colts: Paul Justin has gone from a backup to starter for the Indianapolis Colts. Said regular starter Jim Harbaugh: "He's earned it, he deserves it." The Colts waived Heis-man winner Gino Torretta. Redskins: Leslie Shepherd, the Redskins' only consistent wide receiver this season, said he was a victim of a "cheap shot," and will be lost for the rest of the regular season with a dislocated wrist bone and elbow. Chiefs: Aaron Brown, 53, a starting defensive end on the Super Bowl-winning 1970 Kansas City Chiefs team, died when he was struck by a car while walking on a northeast Houston street.

Raiders: Harvey Williams' four touchdowns in a 38-13 win against San Diego on Sunday night was a career high. "We had a lot of things that we wanted to come in and prove," Williams said. The 38 points were a season-high for Oakland, which snapped a three-game skid. Bengals: General manager Mike Brown and Coach Bruce i 1 1 By Barbara Caywood FLORIDA TODAY The parade of Brevard County North-South All-Star games begins Dec. 13 with a new addition.

An All-Star volleyball game will be played at 3 p.m. at Rockledge High, 4 hours before the 7 p.m. football game kickoff at McLarty Stadium. Last year, the North won 29-14, taking home "The Big," the hand-sculpted trophy on which the names of all the winning team players have been engraved. Big Brothers Big Sisters, the United Way agency which pairs adults as mentors with children from single-parent families, was the beneficiary of proceeds from the game, which drew approximately 2,000 fans to Palm Bay Stadium.

Coaches for the football teams will be Mer-ritt Island's Gerald Hodgin for the North and Melbourne's Joe Murano for the South. Honorary captains will be former Mustang and current Miami Hurricane Derrick Ham for the North team, and Cocoa Beach grad and current Central Florida starting linebacker Mike Palmer for the South. Following are the teams selected from nominations made by Brevard coaches: North team Astronaut: DL Marty Mixson, CB-RB Chris Calhoun. Palm Bay's Bonnie Prlester will coach the South and Melanie Wood of Rockledge will be the North coach.

The senior scored 21 points Monday night to lead the Panthers to a 71-52 season-opening women's basketball victory against Savannah State at Hedgecock Gym. Radenkovic hit twice from the 3-point arc in the first half to give Florida Tech an early lead. She also led the team in defensive rebounds with 11. To show her confidence, after any Panther scores, Radenkovic points to the ceiling or, in front of her, for emphasis. "It's kind of the preseason," said Radenkovic, from Belgrade, Yugoslavia.

"So I do that point because I am so confident." Not so confident was Savannah State, which fell to 0-3. The closest the Tigers came to the Panthers all night was eight points in the first half, when LaKeia Manor hit a 3-point shot to cut the gap to 19-11. Despite facing a Panther team that has only eight players, Savannah coach Walter Tullis doesn't think the shortage of bodies is going to hurt Florida Tech this season. "They have eight good players," Tullis said. "They don't need but five." The Panthers came out running the floor in the second half, and after Natara Loose hit two 3-point shots, Florida Tech led 46-25.

"We played 12 minutes of really good basketball in a 40-minute game," Panthers coach John Reynolds said. "But we got one in the left-hand column. We played well enough to win, so I guess I can't complain. We gave ourselves something to build on." Notes: Among Florida Tech point leaders were Loose with 16, and freshmen Lin-denberger and Arian Blanchard, who each poured in 10. The Tigers' high scorer was Nekosha Fambro with 17 Panthers' guard Ursula Thomas went down late in the second half with leg cramps.

She will be in the lineup for Tech's game with visiting North Florida on Wednesday. SAVANNAH ST. We went from one of the highest points here at home to one of the lowest." Said Wadsworth: "It wasn't meant to be for us last year, but the character of this team has really shown by what we've accomplished this year. We've come all the way back to get another chance." The Sugar Bowl loss snapped the Seminoles' streak of 13 consecutive bowl victories. It also fueled the motivation for this season.

On Saturday, the top-ranked Seminoles hope for a catharsis when facing Florida in Temple: Ron Dickerson, who gave himself five years to right the Owls' foundering football program, resigned Monday after his fifth season left him 8-47 as coach. Dickerson met with Temple athletic director Dave O'Brien Sunday and Monday. "We leave this program in a lot better shape than it was when we arrived," Dickerson said in a statement. Louisville: Embattled Coach Ron Cooper says he is ready to talk with school officials today about whether he will be returning. Athletic Director Tom Jurich characterized the meeting as an evaluation and opportunity "to discuss the said.

"We beat the No. 1 team in the country. But to be 11-0, then have to turn around and play them again, then lose to your rival, lose the national title, lose your bowl streak there was too much involved to let it go. I think it's definitely been in the back of the minds of most of us." With one game remaining, the Seminoles are three quarterback sacks away from matching last year's school record of 67 Samari Rolle walked around Monday with a foam cast on his injured left ankle. Florida State has spent 11 months living a nightmare. The Seminoles' 52-20 loss to rival Florida in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2 shattered a perfect regular season and sent the Gators dancing on Bourbon Street with the national title. Five weeks earlier, the Seminoles toppled then-No. 1 Florida 24-21 in Tallahassee.

Florida State rivalry turned up a notch last year when Gators coach Steve Spurrier accused the Seminoles' defenders of hitting UF quarterback Danny Wuerffel late on pass plays. Spurrier even put together a tape of the hits and allowed media to view it before the Gators' 52-20 win against the 'Noles in the Sugar Bowl rematch. He already hinted that things could get ugly if he feels Florida State plays dirty this Saturday.

Do bitter feelings remain? You season in Gainesville, not everyone's buying such talk. "We're not going to have the finish like we did last year," Florida defensive end Willie Rodgers said. "We kept watching how they were hitting Danny late and everything.

That was kind of a motivation for us." Could the bad feelings remain this fall? "It think there's a little bit on both sides," Ritch said. "They play a lot of bump and run Florida State, they're a good team. They're gonna mix it up. They're not going to just blitz every play against us." "They've got a lot of good athletes," Spurrier said. "They're well-coached, and it seems like they're playing the scheme they've played the last year or so, and obviously it's very good for them." That scheme means Florida State will be a huge test for the receivers. And without that once-familiar spark from the Gators receivers, Florida State will be simply too good for Florida this year.

Darrell Jackson and Travis Taylor have seen some limited playing time as true freshmen but have not made an impact. Aside from Green, the Gators have had to rely on short passes.

Still, Green says the receivers are not worried about getting fancy numbers this season it's winning this week that counts.
