After congratulations were passed those present repaired to the church where Bro. T. H. Connor delivered a more than ordinary sermou from the pas-sage: "I will go; if I perish, I perish," to a large and attentive congregation. When the services were ended we returned to VV.

Mrs, Alice Thornton, who has been visiting ber. parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris-Wagner, is thinking of returning to her home in Chattanooga the last of the week. Her many friends regret to see her leave.

Wagner does not notice the dry weather for thinking of his new cook. Mrs. Mary Campbell and son, Charlie were visiting at Mrs. Wagner's Sunday. Will Harris and Dave Lewis were on tho mountain Wednesday looking after tbeir cattle.

T. E. FINE BALL PLAYING. Sequachee Loses a Close and In teresting The Tracy City Base Ball Team made its first appearance on the local diamond Friday afternoon and defeated the home team in close and interesting game. Many close plays were made.

Martin was in the box for Sequachee, and pitched his usual fine game. Camp bell ably assisting him. Hal pitched an excellent game for Tra cy, and was well supported by his team'wlu) proved themselves hot ball players. For Sequachee good work was done by C. Martin at 3rd and Byrd at 2nd.

For- Tracy the entire it field did fine work, and Andrigg's work at short was espec ially good. On account ol the lateness ol the hour the game was called for seven innings, and Tracy made its win niiig run with two nun out, tl other run being let in a moment later by a wild pitch. The quarterly meeting of Payne's Chapel was well attended Sunday week. We heard some eloquent ser mons by the elder, Bro. Shuler. We are glad to have Miss Maggie iague with us again. She says the mountain air and chalybeate water are a great benefit to her.

Several from this place attended the quarterly meeting at New Salem Sunday, and report a good time and plenty of dinner. We had quite a storm Saturday evening, lhe rain was gladly accepted. Bro. Morgan of "Rossville, began a protracted meeting at Mt. Olivet Baptist church Thursday.

We hope many will be converted. A. B. Belville of Cincinnati, is spending the hot months on the mountain. We are clad to have them with us.

Miss Nannie llixon is visiting her sister, Mrs. John llixon. J. M. llmkle goes to Chattanooga, with potatoes and beans.

He says he always gets the top of the market. George Hughes and family of Trenton are visiting his mother. Mrs. Trotter, of Pittsburg, Ga was in our burg to-day. The health of the community is very good at present.

Maud Carson is spending the week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. I llixon. W.

W. Neal of Chattanooga, was up the 4th Sunday in June and or ganized a Junior Epworth League at Payne's Chapel. Wake up, parents, to your duty and see that your children go, and take active part. There is no grander work than training the hearts of the children for God and his cause. The crops in this section are very good considering the dry weather.
