'12. Mr. James A. Menzies, Yale, Mich. Dear Sir and Friend: The Sept.

12, issue of the eter welcome Expositor was just laid on desk by the postman. The lirst tiding that caught my eye was the pictures "the next president and viee-presideJut of the United States." i read your "explanation at onu and congratulate you upon your stand for clean, righteous politics. It was' my happy privilege to attend a rro gressive rally here at Light (Juard Ar mory last Monday evening and to rap turously listen for over an hour to the eloquent speech' of (lovemor Hiram W. Johnson eloquent, not only because of his exceptional mastery of the English language but because of his enunciation of political principles (that have been adopted by the National Progressive Party) that mean somethingprinciples that every self-respecting citizen, not only CAN but SHOULD adopt and support and then insure fulfillment of by voting for the man that the "gang" has never been able to "gag" Theodore Koosevelt. 1 never thought of being a politician but have always kept tali on "such doings" and "Chicago-June" killed every whit of respect 1 had forrepublicanism as set forth there and then.

Since that time I have been looking to "Taddv the Terror" of evil doers to save the country from its "Political Pirates" and shall now look for my Expositor with even greater pleasure than in the past, since it is lending a helping hand in wi goou wor. If every publisher in our country would adopt political principles that harmonize with HONEST business principles, as you have dom and as they should do, they would change darkness to light and truly "the dawn of the morning" of "good will toward men would speedily come. Stick to your text "body and boots." Very respectfully yours, JOHN It. HOLMES. Millinery opening at M.
