Prior to his technical education Dr.

Styri was a lieutenant in the Norwegian Coast Artillery. He graduated from the Kristiania Techniske Skole, in Norway and won the first scholarship by the American Scandinavian Foundation to CarnegieInstitute of Technology. He completed a special chemical course there in 1910. Two years later he received his doctorate in engineering at Konigliche Technische Hochschule, Aachen, Germany. He returned to this country in 1917 and took a metallurgist post at the Hussey-Binns Steel Charleroi, Pa.

He was a professor at Carnegie until 1919 when he came here as laboratory chief for SKF. He was research director from 1927 until his retirement in 1951. He was awarded the St. Olav's Medal and diploma by King Haakon VII of Norway in 1951 for his assistance in Norway relief measures during the Second World War. During that war he was a consultant in metallurgy for the Philadelphia Ordnance District.

Since 1946 he had been a member of the subcommittee on lubrication and wear of the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie I. Swift, and two Founders and Patriots of America the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated from the university's School of Law in 1917. As his law practice grew, he became daughters, Mrs. Harrison W.

Holt, in 1949, and also served as registrar of that organization for 13 years. interested in politics and was named chairman of the Italian Di of Narberth, and Mrs. Werner Jan sen, of Brooklyn, N. Y.
