A complete surprise was perpetrated upon King C. Holden and wife last Friday evening, by all tne brothers and families suddenly appearing at their home. The household goods of Lester Clark were shipped on Wednesday of this week to West Conway, Shiawassee county, where Mr.

Clark is preaching. Mr. Clark and family nave been resi dents of this place a good many years occupying a farm just south of the village, and they win be gTeatiy miss td. Elder Clark was the pastor of the M. P.

The Port Huron Times says that Rev. Sam Bettes, the wandering eyangelist of St. Clair county, is now lecturing in Mexico and that he will visit California before his return. L. A.

Sherman, editor of the Port Huron Times is the newly appointed postmaster at Port Huron. The appointment does not meet with general favor among republicans. Ewing, most worthy grand matron of the general grand chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of the United States, held in Masonic hall, Port Huron, last Monday evening. Sixteen ladies and one gentleman accepted the invitation and we know that Mr. Ruh was right in his element with a lot of ladies to take care of. From the account of the reception in the Times we can infer that a grand good time was enjoyed by all. We also cite this from theTimes "Mrs.

J. C. Holden, of Yale, made one of the best addresses of tho evening and concluded by reciting a poem entitled, 'The It is no surprise to hear that our ladies can make speeches with tho best of them. Wo are proud to know that this flour has becomo justly cele brated all over the country, not that we have only been made acquainted with this fact, because we have known it a long time, but we like to bring it before our readers from time to time that we have one of the best mills in the state, and no better Hour is pro duced anywhere. M. R. R. em ployee at this station took place tho latter part of last week. The reasons for making the change have not been made public, although it it is surmised that it is on account of Clarence Hun- gerford and brother Bert being mem bers of the Order Railway Telegraphers, which is obnoxious to the company.

F. A. Griswold, Jule Hennessey and Thos. Hoskin are here attending to the work at this point. While we regret to see the old employees displaced, we cannot help but give the new ones a hearty welcome.

Clarence and Bert Hunger ford both have many friends in Yale, all of whom trust they may not be long in securing other" situations. Village Election. The excitement over this epring'e vil lage election failed to run very high for the simple reason that there was no opposition to the one ticket. Notwith standing this fact 120 voters visited the polls and each one cast his ballot, some of which did not count on account of being spoiled. The officers below were elected by votes ranging from 117 to 121 A.

George Mclntyre. Elmer L. Moore, of Rofeburg, was in Yale Thursday on his way to Detroit. Mrs. Caroline and Mrs.

J. C. Holden were in Brown City last week visiting friends. Geo. Fox and wife, of Marlette, were guests of Chas.

Rounds and wife over Sunday. Mr 8. E. R. Beecher attended the funeral of Mr.

Roberts at Marine City Tuesday. Geo. Mclntyre went to Lansing Wed nesday on business for the lirm of Mclntyre Harris. Mrs. J.

F. Holden and daughter, of Brown City, have been visiting friends here the past week. V. F. McDonald and John A.

Springer haye been home from Saginaw a lew days this week. James McColl, A. W. Ferguson and Harvey Tappan were at Mayville on business Friday last. Mrs.

Frank Gillis and Mrs. Barney Mills, of Marysville, are guests of Mrs. J. A. Rowe this week.

Mrs. J. A. Menzies was in Port Huron Friday and Saturday the guest of Mrs. Cady and family, Geo.

II. Mustard, of Port Huron, has been working in this section for a few days in the interest of the Loyal Guards. Will Mackman who has been working in the woods all winter returned home last Wednesday looking hale and hearty. Irene Edmunds, who has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs. J.

C. Holden for a few weeks past, returned on Monday to her home in Ontario. R. J. Newell, wife and family, returned Friday last to their home in Toronto, after spending two weeks with John Newell and family.

Jason Clark, of Saginaw, visited in Y'ale the fore part of the week. His mother Mrs. Lester Clark returned home with him where she will visit for a short time previous to going to her new home at West Conway.
