Frank Smith's Home on Mechanic Street Slitfhtly Scorched Wednesday Evening, Between midnight and one o'clock last Saturday morning our citizens were awakened by the alarm of nre and it seemed that the whole sky was alight. (Irawberg SSterner's meat market was all ablaze and the efforts of the liremen were handicapped by frozen water hose and then with the weak pressure, but in a very few minutes they got to work and the building was gutted with water and the tire sub dued. A large quantity of meat of all kinds was roasted and the loss to tl raw berg Sterner is about (300 with $450 in surance.

The building which was owned by Thomas Jlolden was insured for $000. The liremen worked heroically in the freezing atmosphere and are certainly entitled to much credit for their work and their quickness to respond to call About half past seven Wednesday evening the lire whistle screeched forth its warning and quickly the tire laddies supported by a goodly sized crowd ready to give all help possible were upon the scene, which proved to be the house occupied by frank V.
