A. White, of Chattanooga, is visiting in the city. Mrs. Quarles, of Jasier, was visit ing in town Sunday. Jackson Lee and Chas.

Miss Myrtle Coppinger, of Coppinger Cove, spent Tuesday in the city. Miss Pearl Stansberry, of Jasper, was visiting in the city Sunday. Walter Hopkins was up from South Pittsburg to see home folks Sunday. Mrs. C.

E. Cunningham and Miss True Randle went to Jasper Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Harris, of Jasper, visited Mr.

and Mrs. Haynes Sunday. Miss Nina Randle spent Sunday with Miss Eunice Hutton, of Victoria. Mac Thomas and John Hester, of South Pittsburg, were visiting in the city Sunday. Mrs.

Byrd, mother of Mrs. W. S. and little daughter, of Upper Eust Tennessee, are here Mrs. F.

Rev. Scott, of Whitwell, held regu lar services at the school house Sun day morning. Miss Minetta Holland, of Pryor In stitute, Jasper, was the admired guest of Miss Juliette Hopkins Saturday and aunaay. Petitions are being circulated to make Sequachee an independent school district, so its citizens can look after its own school affairs. Don't forget the box supper at the Hall Saturday night.

There will be a nice entertainment therewith, free as the wind, so saddle up old Beck and come on. Mr. Sam Wilson is the proud and happy father of a Carmack (i. e. lxy) weighing 11 pounds who arrived at his home Monday morning.

Cold In Memory of Robt. Lee. We have met. with a loss that we sometimes think we never can hear, nnrl that io thn deaths of our friend, Robert Lee. Robert departed this lire Jan.

29, 1907. He was about 22 years old. Robert was a true type of young He was always ready to lend a hlftih hand to nv one that needed his He. was loved bv all wnn knew him. Special to the News. We are glad to know that jonn Griffith has returned to his home. Jim Ellrod and Foster Layne are all smiles at this minute. The 5-year-old girl of Hence Layne has had the fever but is better. The infant child of Ben Baltimore is sick and not expected to live. We notice that Preston Tate has a new coal digger. Mr. Tate had better repent like the Tracy Miner and raise his boy union.

To the Shady Grove writer: When yon see Foster he will have a little wife, then you will stop asking mo much about him. Foster iftid James Ellrod will be in some day with their little darlings. A wending of social interest was that of Mr. Homer Boyd and Miss Maggie Davenport, which was solemnized Feb. on YYalden's Ridue. Both are well known and very popular and have a host of relatives and friends, who wish them much joy. Jennie Henson daughter of J.

J. Henson and wife, who has leen seri ously ill with pneumonia, is improv ing. Mrs. Harvey Greening has returned to her home in Oklahoma after a visit of several weeks here with parents, Mr. and Mrs.

W. A. Barber. Ralph Dyer, who has been seriously ill for two weeks, is slowlv improving, under the careful attention of Dr. J.

P. Barnett. Charlotte Rose Thompson called on little Marv Brown last week. Miss Ethel Young, of Atpontly vis ited relatives and friends here this week. B.

F. Cowan, of Whitwell, was vis iting his son, W. S. Cowan, one day last week. James Pankey, one of Bledsoe's most prominent citizens, died ut his home near Mansfield Mill, Feb.

N. Cagle was up on the ridge hunting his sheep the other day and found them. One was sick from eating ivy, and he stopped it up in a hollow log until the next tlay. Charlie Heard, of Chattanooga, was out here a few weeks ago. He says he is going to hang his hat on Joe Hul-let's sheep horn.

L. P. Brewer went to his steel traps Sunday morning and got six eggs out of one of them. W. M.
