M. Leonard, whoso petition for from the itnte prison was refused by tho nuprenio court, has appealed his case to tho United States supreme court. Leonard Ja the man who brought up tho appeal from the Indeterminate sentence law, and was turned down by the circuit court and the supremo court. The supreme court held that tho minimum sentence should hold good mid nil those who had served the minimum were released, but Leonard was 'not set free, not having served tho minimum sentence. Leonard Is from Lake county, and was sent to Jackson February 1904.

Prlnourr Sulelde. George (Jreene, an insane inmate of tho state prison hospital, killed himself Wednesday by diving headlong from a window to a board floor only four feet below. Greene was sentenced from Saranac county for burglary for from two to four years and was received at the prison February 2G. A little over a week ago he exhibited signs of insanity and attempted to commit suicide by cutting the arteries of his wrist. A guard was placed over him In the hospital.

When the guard turned his back Greene leaped from the window and died of a fractured fckull. Wnntn Liberty. The citizens of Clio have a numerously signed petition which they will pro-sent to Judge Wisner, of Flint, asking that sentence bo suspended on Glenn Knapp, of that village, who recently, after bis arrest for forging his father's namo to two cheeks, toou a quantity of chloroform in an attempt to commit suicide. His father has settled with the parties who dished the checks. It is not known bow the judge will receive" tho petition, as Knapp was before him in tho circuit court several years ago for breaking Into and entering a bouse near that village.

Mntthe untl Child. Eunice Beckmau, a 0-year-old daughter of John Beckman, of Flint, was seriously, If not fatally, burned Thursday. She secured quantity of matches and went Into the back yard unobserved by her mother to play. A short time afterward Mrs. Beckman heard her daughter screaming, and running to the back yard saw the child's clothing afire.

Willi much difficulty the mother extinguished tho flames, but not before tho child' was frightfully burned about the right side and head. I'tifortunnte Children. A 4-year-old son of William II. Hetli-orn, of Lansing, was run over by a heavily loaded wagon and his recovery is doubtful. Two ribs were fractured and tho left lung crushed.
