The ants and Manufacturers tion is the representative business organization of Milwaukee with a membership of more than one thousand composed of the leading business houses of the Cream City. In previous years trip have been taken through northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of igan, southwestern Wisconsin and Iowa, and the Dakotas. This year Milwaukee business men will devote their entire itinerary to ritory within the Badger State in an effort to increase Milwaukee trade. A large part of the trade of the cities to be visited now turns to Milwaukee as the most ous jobbing and manufacturing center in the Middle West and bers of the Merchants and Manufacturers Association are assured that this trade will be increased by the projected trip. Milwaukee's situation commands excellent transportation facilities to points in this territory and its reputation as a jobbing and ufacturing center is well known.

The special train consisting of nine coaches will leave Milwaukee June 5th to follow an itinerary which cludes forty cities in Northern inois, Western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. BELOIT MILWAUKEE RACINE ENOSHA ANESVILLE ROCKFORD Local merceants who have placed orders with Milwaukee houses will be pleased to learn that recent provements have been made in passenger facilities to Milwaukee over connecting roads.

ENTERTAINMENT FEATURES. In addition to the business ures of the trip the Milwaukee men bring with them several interesting features for the entertainment of their hosts. The famous Merchants and Manufacturers Association Octette is one of the most able singing organizations of their city. Composed of eight male voices their repertoire embraces thing from the old familiar tions of the home to the more ical selections of well known posers. The success of this ization on previous excursions lends added interest to the feats which they promise to perform this year.

In arranging for the tainment of the Milwaukee business men no lunches or dinners will be provided at cities en route as the time of the merchants is so ically as to piovide for all meals while on the train, three diners being part of the regular train equipment. Advantages from this trip will be derived not only by the Milwaukee jobbers and ufacturers but each city at which they stop will receive a large amount of valuable business licity through the five newspaper men, representing Milwaukee papers, who will accompany the merchants throughout the entire excursion. Each day of the trip column articles will appear in all of the Milwaukee papers ing descriptions ot the territory visited. on Sunday evening next, at 7:45 o'clock. A cordial invitation is extended.

The monotony of the council gathering was relieved by a ber of new matters Tue.sday ing, one of the first to make its pearance being a communication trom Mrs. Helmi Autio, claiming an injury resulting from a fall on the icy cross-walk at the corner ot Chestnut street and Cleveland nue on March 1st, alleging several broken bones in her wrist as a sult, and asking reimbursement from the city in the sum of $5,000.

The communication was referred to the city attorney for an opinion. A permit was granted to Julius Shanedling for the tearing down of the east wall of the building monly known as the Engle ing, the tearing out of this wall ing made necessary by the ed improvement of the Fitgqr lots adjoining, the wall over-lapping the lot line. The council also had submitted for its consideration a most proper ordinance relative to the burning of soft coal and the consequent smoke nuisance arising therefrom, the ordinance being given its first reading. The ordinance relating to the storage, keeping, selling and veying of gasoline and other oils and of dynamite and other ives, given its first reading qt the previous meeting, was amended to permit of the use of and handling of such explosives in necessary quantities by those engaged in mining or quarrying, and placing the magazines of companies thus engaged under the supervision of the chief of the fire department, and received its second reading. The court showed that the orary lull in spring weather had not interfered with business in that line, a total of $265.50 in fines and costs being reported for the week.

The city clerk was instructed to notify the police and fire sion to call attention of the police department to the habit on the part of some of exceeding the speed limit on the streets of the city, and have same stopped and the ions of the ordinance complied with in future.
