FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 1993 Nursery Project Completed By Wilson Baptist Church By MRS. B. F. BOYLES (Courier News Correspondent) WILSON — A project that has been planned and worked on for several months was completed at the First Baptist, Church here last Sunday, when the new building known at a "Bahy Bungalow" had its grand opening. Sixteen babies and workers were pressent on this first Sunday In their new home, a two-room structure. The Idea for this movement had its beginning last summer when the deaconj and the pastor, tho Rev. D. B. Bledsbe, began to discuss plans for enlarging this department and giving the children under three years of age, a place of their own in which to meet. Tentative plans were drawn up. but a drawback was the matter of finance. The kind of home needed and planned for would cost $3.200, which the church did not have. However, Ihe need wns realized immediately by the members, and $600 was pledged. The riiovement was kept alive during the summer and when fall came, with cotton picking In full swing, six members . of the church offered a bale of cotton each, other members would pick Ihem. Over a period of two weeks, more than 150 .individuals had a part In picking those six bales of cotton,, which netted $1,200 for the new structure. Meantime, plans were made for actual construction to begin • Now 10. Then a special drive for funds was launched which brought In an additional $900. By Dec. 15, practically all the money had been raised by the building committee and the pastor. The "Home" is divided Into two rooms, one for babies who are still confined to their cribs and the other for the toddlers and children to three years of age. The floor Is of tile, with the lower wall done in a light blue washable plastic wall material and the walls and ceiling of one room In a darker shade of blue. The tiny folks' room is done in a pink and blue. The furniture and woodwork are white: A children's rest-room fs Included and the building is equipped with germ- actdal lamps. , Mrs. Marshall Woodyard ^'superintendent, of the Nursery Department, with the following workers assisting: Mrs. Ruby Stephens, Mrs Claude Dye. and Mrs. Isaac Alexander. A different group of women work In the nursery Sunday evenings under the direction of Mrs A. E Clark and Miss Annie-R a e Rowland, with different mothers taking Iheir turns during the worship services. Because of the nursery, mothers with small children, are able to attend the services they might otherwise miss. Blytheville FULL GOSPEL TABERNACLE ' . ' . Lily and Vine J. A.
