Bohn of the First Baptist Church returned today from Grand Rapids, where he has been attending the Northern Baptist convention. The Rev. Bohn took part in the program Friday. He will be in charge of 'th'e' 'regular at the First Baptist Church Sunday and will deliver the baccalaureate sermon for the graduating class of the East Alton-Wood River Community High school Sunday at 8 p. m.

Court of Awards EAST ALTON At a court of awards held Friday evening at the Community Center, 20 girls of Clrl Scout troop 9 were given merit badges. Mrs. Florence Day. president of the East AJton Woman's Club sponsors the troop, resented the entire troop of 20 girls w-lth their troop numerals, and Mrs. R.

Teacher Honored of District 104 gave a pre-nuptial dinner at Boswell's Cafe at East Alton Thursday evening in honor of Miss Gladys Glower, fifth grade teacher of Woodrow Wilson school. Martha Dell Bishop, a teacher in the Lincoln School at Alton, will leave soon for Camp Dellwood, to take a course in camp counseling.

She will serve as a unit leader at Camp Talahi this summer. Miss Helen McDuffy will meet with the staff in the near future and'complete plans for opening camp. Camp folders have been sent to girls in outlying areas near Alton, but there are still reservations open to local girls. Members' of the Girl Scout and Girl Reserve camp committees hope to receive these reservations as soon as possible. To Sponsor Boat Excursion WOOD Girl Scouts will sponsor a boat excursion again this summer.

Scouts, their fam- and friends will take an all- day trip on the excursion steamer WOOD RIVER, May 25. Lumber company officials said today that only one Joint meeting been held In the truck-drivers' strike, Which been in effect for the past two weeks at Wood River, East Alton, and Roxana yards. Truck drivers for three companies failed to report for work May 11, and have the job since. About 25 drivers are Involved in the work stoppage. One company spokesman said today that nothing was accomplished at the one joint meeting held to date.

At the time of the strike, Phil Scheldt, business agent for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and Chauffeurs, Local 525, Alton, said that any action taken toward settlement must await approval by the union's joint district council. Scheldt also said that strikers were asking an increase in wages from 93 cents an hour to $1.10. The 'drivers also are seeking a 40-hour work week, with no Saturday Companies effected by the strike are Stolze Lumber Wood River, Central Lumber Hardware Wood River, and Fischer Lumber East Alton -and Roxana. Popular sign, carried by drivers in picket lines at the companies Contract. No Negotiations had been under way to get company acceptance of a new contract before the strike was called.
