CHILUCOTBE. MO. SHOOTS MAN THEN THUSPHONES SHERIFF HE IS EN ROUTE TO JAIL Macon Herald.

Owen Murphy, a farmer living near Kaseyville, came to Macon this morning in a car and drove to the jail, where he stated to Sheriff Stamper that he had shot a man in self-defense and wanted to surrender. He had previously telephoned the sheriff that he was on his way to Macon to surrender. In the car with Murphy was his brother, John Murphy, and Toke Burnam and Willard Kelley. F- L. Knox was the man with whom Murphy had had the trouble.

It is said Knox had rented some corn land from Murphy and would not let him go upon it. When Murphy was asked if the man he shot was dead, he said he did not know, but it was stated that Knox died soon after he was shot. Murphy is in Jail, the only prisoner now in the sheriff's custody. ate rent ala steadfast 1 ur purpose to conduct ur business in an efficient, commendable manner. Our reliability Is nquestioned.
