WCTUHas Meet At Shuler's "Promise and Performance" was the theme for the devotions presented at the Aug. 16, meeting of the Huntingdon Woman's Christian Temperance Union held in the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Chester Shuler of Taylor Highlands. Mrs. Arthur Black was in charge of the meeting with Mary Dell as devotional leader. The hymn, Advance Not Retreat, was used with Mrs. Cloyd Foster as accompanist.

Scripture was read from I John 4. What glorious revelations the words of God bring to our hearts. These words are spirit and they stir every particle of our soul with their powers, pointed out the leader. These words are life and they inspire and draw the sinner to Christ. Through His word He gave His love for our malice, His peace for out- despair, His joy for our sorrow, and His life for our death.

We are confident that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Abraham was strong in faith giving glory to God and was fully persuaded that what he had promised he would perform. During the U.S. Con- stutional Convention, it seemed the statesmen were i going to fail in their purpose to write effective laws, but realizing that God had promised to govern in the affairs of men, they decided that an empire cannot rise without His aid. From that hour, they sought divine guidance and our great constitution came into being.

Wonderful results come into being when we allow Christ to perform what he has promised. Discussions were offered in regards to some of the destructive bills being offered against the lives of our youth, and were in hopes they can be defeated for the sake of our God-loving nation. The group was honored by the presence of Ohis Castleberry, professor of speech communications at Long Beach, Calif, and a Ph. D. from Penn State University.

He stressed the need of the continuation of the WCTU and the importance of parents' proper guidance in the use of alcoholic beverages. Only once in the Bible was the drinking of water forbidden and that was because of contaminated conditions. Mrs. R. Leslie Green gave the secretary's and treasurer's reoorts.

The pledges to the three flags and the benediction were given, followed by a delicious picnic meal on the spacial lawn at the Shuler home. Happy Birthday HI! MY NAME IS Steven Ray Varner and I celebrated my eighth birthday on Aug. 21. My daddy and mommy are Mr. and Mrs.

It's made by combining one cup (two sticks) butter with one half cup of chopped, fresh strawberries and three tablespoons of confectioner's sugar in a blender or food processor with a steel blade. Whip until light and fluffy. This yields one and one fourth cups and keeps well when refrigerated. If you can't recall what went' on last weekend, just ask the curtain-peeper who lives next door. Social security is having the only swimming pool within three miles.
