M. Cornwell, 80, salesman and farmer Richard M. Cornwell, a salesman and farmer, died Friday of unknown causes at Greater Baltimore Medical Center two days after a hernia operation in York, Pa. He was 80. Since 1964, he had lived on an 85-acre farm in White Hall, where he grew wheat, corn and soybeans and raised beef cattle.

He was born in Alexandria, but spent most of his youth in Riverdale and Hyattsville, graduating from Hyattsville High School. A chief petty officer the Navy, he was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. After he was discharged in November 1945, he worked as a radio announcer in Tarboro, N.C., before moving to Baltimore about 1950. He operated a soft-drink distribution company from 1956 to 1970, then was a vice president of Allegheny Beverage Corp. for four years.
