Familiarity with Burroughs L2000 or equivalent. Will tram. Can Don Gibley 1223-700) at decision I made that week. The third show, last week's offering, was about an Unidentified Flying Object (U.F.O.) that landed in Chicago and loosed some invisible menace that ate bone marrow. Although driven to this weird repast, however, the unseen monster apparently didn't enjoy it.

It would then throw up something that Kolchak described as "bluish-greenish-black bile." I watch this show in stunned amazement. I have seen some terrible turkeys on TV. in my time, but I have never before seen one whose apparent aim is to make its audience ill. The only set piece on this show I enjoy is one they've used on both episodes I've seen. This features the monster of the week, Jack the Ripper in the first case and the U.F.O.

baggage in the second, throwing policemen through the air like bean bags. Not that I have anything against policemen. Instead, in my mind's eye, I imagine that the thrown men, heaved onto car roofs and sent skidding across pavement stones, are producer Paul Playson, director Allen Baron, creator Jeff Rice, story consultant David Chase, writer Rudolph Borchert and others, who have allowed the news to leak out that they are' partially to blame for this meretricious, mindless, money-wasting rot. I can't understand what this show is supposed to do. It is a horror yet it isn't scary.

It dabbles in science-fiction, yet it follows no rules of logic. It ranges into the supernatural but no kind of explanation, even a fantastic one, is offered for fully half the goings-on. The best line spoken on this show so far was one from Kolchak's editor. In a preview of a coming episode, which will feature a lady vampire, he bellowed, "I'm tired of you, Kolchak. Fed up!" He's a tough editor.

Took him a lot longer to reach that decision than it did me. T88 Inquirer. Cory co. BILLING CLERK, familiar with HOURS TO CALL: Phone our helpful Ad-Visors 8 A.M. to 9:30 P.M.

"I was informed by a group of church elders that the book was 'too truthful. It really touched a nerve," he said. In the Pathway critique, Neidermyer was accused of falsely claiming that the Old Order Amish Church was dying and that it and its way of life did not work anymore. It asked why Herald Press did no ask a competent Amish authority for an opinion so that "the book would not have the inaccuracies and distortion that it has." "Is there any wcuse in this age of rapid communication for a book to be published about a minority group which is neither fac-tural nor accurate?" the critique asked. It indicated that Herald Press should not have published the book.

Gd starting wage fun nosp. taxation op-etits to me By HARRY HARRIS Inquirer TV Writer Will Philadelphia "Marcus VVelby" fans get to- see next Tuesday's controversial episode, "The Outrage?" Channel 6, the local ABC affiliate, has decided not to carry the asserting that its "false stereotype of homosexuals as persons who pursue and sexually assault young boys" makes it "unsuitable." Channel 29, which briefly opted to serve as a substitute outlet, has decided that it's "to exploitative." Channel 48, which last week volunteered: to air the program, was turned down by the network on the ground that Channel 29 "had already put in a bid." a spokesman feels it's "too late." Meanwhile, die ABC stations which have rejected the program now number four, with WHYN-TV, in Springfield, the latest addition. The Channel '29 change-of-mind is characterized by the station's general manager, Cdiio Aimeke, as a monumental goof." Anneke, who from 1968 to 1971 was general manager of Channel 48 and- returned to Philadelphia only six weeks ago, says he approved clearance of the program without close scrutiny of its content while attending a meeting of Taft Broadcasting executives in Cincinnati. "I received a synopsis from ABC and APA, advance program advisory Monday morning, read it and didn't like it, because it tended to 'box' homosexuals. "I felt it was exploitative in nature and that there had already been an undue amount of publicity for a second-rate script.

"I decided that Channel 29 shouldn't carry it because it didn't offer a responsible, fair presentation. Good working 657-3410 BUS-BOY, i day wk. apply aft 11:30 a sher's 3S45 Broad ing the day from Mark Segal, of the Gay Raiders, but I only told him I would make a decision. "I didn't listen to any arguments.

I don't yield to pressure groups, because if I did I would abrogate my duties as a responsible broadcaster. If I had felt the program was fair, neither hell nor high water would have persuaded me not to clear it." The fact that four of the program's sponsors, Bayer Aspirin, Listerine, Gallo Wine and Ralston Purina, have withdrawn, Anneke said, did not influence his decision. "There has been so much publicity," he said, "that it would have been a splendid opportunity to get a big audience. We could have sold a lot of adjacencies for probably $500 apiece, which is big for a UHF station." Segal, who is associated with the Gay Raiders, the Gay Activists Alliance, the Radical Queens and numerous other local and national homosexual organizations, says he was assured that neither Channel 29 nor Channel 48 would carry the program. That statement came as a surprise to Elbert Sampson, program manager of Channel 48.

"We felt," he said, "the show should have a forum, irrespective of its content. We never even discussed homosexuality. "We called ABC on Friday, but the network never acknowledged our call. I called again Monday and was told Channel 29 had cleared the show, so it wasn't available. "We really wanted to do the show.

Now I don't know, because of time constraints." Channel 6's substitution for next Tuesday's "Marcus Welby" chapter will be a Capital Cities special, "Michelangelo."
