John Weaver Carlson of Rhinelander. Lieut. Carlson was taken prisoner last July when the Allies were driving across France and were believed to be on a non-stop march to Berlin.

In a letter written a few weeks after he was taken prisoner, Lieut. Carlson wrote to his parents that he expected to be "home by Christmas," evidently anticipating a quick Allied victory. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson, 521 Thayer street, parents of the lieutenant, received the letter recently and Monday received a post card from him, advising them that he was well and in good health.
