Sun STATE ROAD FOR OUR COUNTY. Plans Under Way for the Building a Road Across the State, Uouuty Commissioners -W. R. Harris, 0: E. Vann and T.

B. Sutton, of Muskogee County, were in week suiting with the ocmmissoners. of this county in regard to this construction of' a bridge across' the Arkansas river on the line of the proposed state road between Webbers Falls and Campbell. Favorable action was taken in regard to the matter and, in all -probability, the matter will be submitted to the voters of the county, along wuh other propositions, for the bondiug of the sum of the of defraying one half of the expense of the construction of said bridge, the proposition'to conditioned upon the building of the state public highway. It was the opinion of many that the voters of the county would be glad to support the proposition provided we get the state road but otherwise they would not.

The benefits from such a road' would be of inestimable value and our people are not in seeing it. Nothing Stands in the way of-our progress to-day as our had roads, hence the peoples willingness to co-operate in any way which seems to offer better public highways. In offering to build half the bridge the commissioners of the adjoining county are showing their magnaminity, which, aside from the benefit to be drived from the state road, because it would be of greater benefit to our county than to theirs. We are for the proposition and hope to see it the present with smokeless pdwdev and long range guns, the history of- the' world may be sum med up in theofle And when mankind was not employing the fists which Nature gave it, or the weapons which it invented, it was lighting- with its brains, seeking to overcome the difficulties which lay in the way its progress, or trying; 1 to get the best of the obstacles which hindered its developement.
