If It could, Ritchie Hart would have it made. This 19-year-old Mesa lad, who sang his way to a mild platter hit with a Felsted recording of "The Great Duane," is working harder than ever right now so that someday he may be labeled a star. There's nothing sensational about the way Ritchie got his start on wax.

Hart simply walked into Audio Recorders in Phoenix and sang some of his original songs for record pro- cers Floyd Ramsey and Connie Conway. They didn't really flip over any of his songs, but liked his style and enthusiasm. They told HARMAN'S Ranch Restaurant MESA-TEMPE-HI-WAY CHICKEN AT ITS VERY BEST $160 I (Re (Reg.) THEN PHOENIX songwriter Sam Underwood brought in a novelty-type tune all about Duane Eddy and his twangy guitar. He called it "The Great Duane." Right away Ramsey and Conway decided: this one is for Ritchie. The studio sold the master recording to Felstead Records in New York in less than a week. And after another week passed, Hart received a phone call from a fellow who has helped many yourg singers just like himself reach disk success. That was Dick Clark.

He appeared on the Saturday night Dick Clark Show which usually reserved for artists with at least near hits. At the time Haft's record was hardly off the platter presses. Anyhow he opened the Clark show and scored. Back home, enthusiasm for Ritchie and his "Great Duane" recording 'began to build. Soon reached Top Ten prominence here.

Hart and his band were immediate demand for record hops and personal )earances. Fan clubs formed. Hart's following grew. In Arizona for the last five years, coming from Kentucky, Sitchie holds down a part-time job in addition to his singing.

Songwriting is a favorite past- time, too. He wrote, "I'm Hypnotized," the flipside of his disk hit. FATHER, SON ON STAGE NEW YORK (AP) Richard Whorf and his son, David, will play key roles as father and son in a new comedy, "One for the Dame." "With a real father and son on the stage, the meaning of every scene should be enhanced," says Harry J. Essex, co-author with Lesser Samuels. The comedy is scheduled for presentation in mid-April.

Few present or past Valley recording artists can claim the astute showmanship qualities that Hajrt possesses. He is a volatile little performer, who literally explodes when he walks in front of an audience. His actions are alive and fresh.

Vocally, he has an exciting, teenage sound. Offstage, he's sensible, sincere, and confident (but not cocky). People like having him around. Hart especially likes big breakfasts, girls, sharp clothes, song-writing, and Dick Clark. "And don't forget Conway Twitty," reminds Richtie.
