The government did not comment, but unofficial sources said they doubted arson was involved. -Advertisement- By Tom Chouneey Pres. KOOL Radio-TV A QUESTION OF TIME An employee of a Phoenix company who filled a minor position with great dependability and had the reputation of always being on the job, rain or shine, was asked why he showed such devotion to such an unimportant job, and this was the man's explanation: "Working for 'something' is not the same thing as working for money, and whatever my work is, it must be for 'something' job has the challenge of being made important, and if a man's job is unimportant to his work will never grow to be important to anybody else. "Happiness is important, the genuine satisfaction -that comes from the cleansing knowledge that my work has been done with all the i ingenuity and application I possess; the best job I could do.

My job is like building a model airplane I want to be proud of it when it's finished. This is a personal thing, but to me it's important. "My country Is important. Where my work is concerned, it is my conviction that every man should contribute something to the society of his time, and although my contribution isn't 'big' I would not be at peace unless my work contributed something 'real' to the economy. I owe that to my country, to be at least a 'quality' cotter pin.

"Wages, honest wages, should always be a by-product of quality and quantity and two factors usually assure this, the indigenous fairness of employers generally, and employer competition for excellent workmen. "So I am not 'giving' anything away, working as I do. To me, my job is important; it is an opportunity by which I may earn the right to be proud; I love my country, and intend to be at least a 'quality' cotterpin; and I find I need more than 'salaried hours' to allow me to think toward quality and quantity in my work. Anvj man who really 'knows' his job usually finds it more FUN than work. To me, America is a 'big' neighborhood, and I am simply trying to be a good neighbor." "A World of Difference." Howard Duff does a good job here, his best in a long time, playing an actor whose make-believe world is stronger than his real one. He turns up on a picture- set and doesn't seem to know anyone.

It's a strange episode and worth seeing. 8 p.m.—(12) Cavalcade of Sports. Ten-round welterweight bout between Emile Griffith and Denny Moyer. 8:30 p.m.—(10) Person to Person. Charles Collingwood visits with Italian Actor Vittorio Gassman in his modern apartment in Rome, and hears about a novel "mobile" theater that Gassman means to travel with all over Italy.

Answer this: My wife and I have a retirement income of $166 a month.

Our expenses consist of rent, $51; utilities, $15; food, $60; car upkeep, $15; insurance, $15; and medication, $25. "This totals $181 a month. How do we balance the books?" Answer Get rid of the car and you're balanced. But there's more wrong with your budget than this. You should not pay more than one-fourth of your income for housing.

On your income this would be about $42 a month. With utilities you are paying $66. You can't afford $60 for food. About the only way you can cut it down is to have a garden and preserve things for tbje winter. For insurance and medication you have to pay what you must.

Your income is simply not' enough for an adequate living standard. There are couples who get by on this amount, but they wear rags for clothing and use boxes for furniture. You need to find more income. (Send questions to Senior Forum, The Arizona Republic.) Listen To METROPOLITAN OPERA 7:00 P.M.
