The movement reached Miami, where eight ministers tried unsuccessfully to break the color barrier in a downtown department Store lunchroom. About 1,000 students at Alabama State College, a Negro institution at Montgomery, scheduled a rally Friday night, presumably to determine whether they'll carry out a mass walkout in protest, against expulsion of nine campus leaders who sparked sitdown demonstrations, In Nashville. state warrants were issued charging 8ft students, most of them Negroes, with conspiring to violate the state trade and commerce law by helping direct last Saturday's lunch counter sitdown demonstrations.

James Lawson, Negro student An' make me a good boy, but not so good I don't have no fun!" fif.v Ordaiico Happed South Phoenix Group Protests Annexation An irate crowd of approximately 150 South Phoenix citizens marched on the attorney general's office yesterday to protest Phoenix's recent annexation of that area and to seek assistance in a move to invalidate the annexation. Attorney George Sorenson, principal spokesman, told Assistant Atty. Gen. Frank Gibson, who received the group, it wants the attorney general to file suit to nullify the city's action.

"WE FEEL," he said, "the annexation ordinance was adopted in an irregular manner." Sorenson complained the annex- McGee Trial Set April 18 The boastful young hitchhiker who has admitted killing a motorist near Wickenburg Jan. 5 must face trial for first-degree murder April 18. Llewellyn McGee 19, Riverside, is able to understand proceedings against him and aid in his defense, Superior Judge Laurens L. Henderson held yesterday. Defense Attorney Howard V.

Peterson had claimed McGee was incompetent for trial because of a head injury suffered in a fight when he was 16. After the judge's ruling, Peterson filed notice of intention, to urge the defense of insanity at McGee's trial. Psychiatrists termed McGee psychopath so dangerous that other county jail prisoners are in peril, but said he is sane enough to be tried. He admitted shooting Wade Strickland, 32, El Paso, after the Strickland man had given him a in Southern California. Strickland, an employe of the National Cotton Council, was en route from Bakersfield, to visit a Phoenix friend and business associate.

Time Capsule Found, Opened HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Plenty of time capsules are buried these days, but it's rarely that one is opened. Mayor James H. Kinsella yesterday disclosed the contents ol a capsule which was dug up Thursday. The capsule, a 2-foot- long bronze case, was buried years ago when the Bulkeley Bridge was dedicated.

A workman, shoveling earth for a new viaduct, uncovered the capsule. Inside were newspaper accounts of the bridge dedication and a small, 46-star American flag. Portraits By James J. Sorenson-said it is the intentio of the objecting property owner to check at their own expense a petition signatures for validity.

Sheriff's Rodeo Set Tomorrow The annual Maricopa Count Sheriff's Posse rodeo, benefitin the schoolboy safety patrol- wi get under way at 1:30 p.m. to morrow at the Arizona Biltmor arena. Officials said the cases will be presented to the grand jury which meets Monday. Conviction could carry a maximum penalty of 11 months 29 days in the workhouse or a $1,000 fine or both. With the exception of Lawson, the students already had been fined $50 each on city charges of disorderly conduct in the same demonstrations.

The fines have been appealed to circuit court. Breach of the peace charges were filed against the 2(5 students who tried to obtain service at three stores in Sumter. Bond was set at $100. All posted bond and were released. Sheriff E.

Byrd Parnell told newsmen he would see that no businesses in Sumter would have to close because of such demonstrations. In Columbia, S. students from two church-supported Negro colleges, Allen and Benedict, agreed to discontinue for the present their campaign for integrated lunch counters. Mayor W. G.

Enloe, of Raleigh, N. announced appointment of a committee to seek a-way to end the Negro demonstrations. The 15-member advisory group is comprised of Negro and white citizens. Four variety stores in Winston-Salem, N. reopened their lunch counters after warning that demonstrators would be prosecuted as trespassers.

None appeared. A group of Negro students from Barber-Scotia college in Concord, N. held a religious service on the courthouse lawn, ignoring jeers and catcalls from a group of white youths. Miami's first experience with the demonstrations ended peacefully. The Rev.

Edward T. Graham tried to lead seven other into a lunchroom at Burdine's Department Store, but was blocked by three store employees.
