retired blacksmith, who died Monday at his home, 2122 Medary ave. Mr. Flanigan, who was 78, was one of a few blacksmiths graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in the study of the horse's hoof. He was a former secretary of the Master Mechanics Union of Horseshoers. Surviving are his wife, Susan a son, John two daughters.

Dr. Rittenhouse Neisser, re tired Baptist clergyman and professor emeritus at Crozer Theological Seminary, Chester, died Tuesday at his home in Livingston, N.

J. Dr. Neisser was head of the semi nary extension department irom 1926 until his retirement in 1944, and also was librarian there from 1935 until 1943. Dr. Neisser had served pastorates at the Logan Baptist Church.

13th and Ruscomb and the Wood land Baptist Church, 65th st. and Woodland ave. He was a member of the board of the American Baptist Historical Society and was a former secretary of the board of education of the Pennsylvania Baptist Con vention. He was at one time a board mem ber of the Crozer Home and Hos pital and the J. Lewis Crozer LI- brary, Chester.

He also had served as president of the Chester Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife, Orace and a son. Wilson of East Orange, J. Services will be held at 2 P. M.

Saturday In Woodland Baptist Church. Burial will be In Mount Morlah Cemetery. Mrs. William Melas Mrs. Eletha Bennett Melas, wife of William Melas, vice president of the Penn Industrial Instrument died Tuesday night at her home, 5940 Overbrook ave.

after a long illness. Mrs. Melas was a teacher in the Logan Public School, 17th st. and Lindley ave. She is survived, in addi tion to her husband, by a sister.

Mrs. Todd Daniel, art attorney, and two brothers, William Ward Bennett, of Philadelphia, and John Ward Bennett, of Milwaukee, Wis. Puneral services will be held at Oliver Bair's. 1820 Chestnut at 2 P. M.

Melvin R. Maytrott Melvin R. Maytrott, who was choir director and organist in many of the leading churches of Philadel phia during the past 40 years, died Tuesday at his home, 310 W. Chelten Germantown. Until he became ill nearly a year ago, Mr.

Maytrott also had been a salesman in the piano department of the Strawbridge and Clothier store, with which he was connected for many years He is survived by his wife. Mrs. Carrie S. Maytrott, and two daughters. Marjorie and Sarah.

Funeral services will be at 2 P. M. Friday at the J. Wesley Craft funeral home, 5202 Wayne Germantown. Burial will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery.

Clifford E. Hood Clifford E. Hood, retired assistant manager of the real estate department of the Pennsylvania Company for Banking Si Trusts, died yesterday at his home on Warren ave. Berwyn. Mr.

Hood, a member of an old Quaker family, was associated with the Pennsylvania Co. for more than 25 years before retiring several years I ago. He was a member of the Masonic Order. Surviving are two sisters, Miriam L. and Helen V.

Hood, and a brother, Lee E. Hood. Funeral services will be held at 2 P. M. Saturday at the Stuard Funeral Home.
