It combines mouthwatering cantaloupe, tender chicken, shredded crisp romaine, and crunchy walnuts. Thanks to condensed soups, dressings that are smooth and not-too-rich can be made in a jiffy to wake up the flavor of many cool summer salads.

MELON-CUP CHICKEN SALAD 1 can oz.) condensed Cream of Chicken Soup 14 c. sour cream 2 lbs. milk 2 tsp. lemon juice 'j Isp. ground ginger 2 medium cantaloupes, cut in half cross-wise 4 c.

shredded romaine 1'L' C. of cubed cooked chicken c. chopped walnuts Combine soup, sour cream, milk, lemon juice, and ginger; chill. Scoop out melon halves with melon bailer; scallop edges with a sharp knife. In bowl, toss melon balls, romaine, chicken, and walnuts; spoon into melon halves.

Serve with dressing. Makes about 8 cups salad. Lacquer metal lamp bases for easier cleaning. Father Roger Lamoureux tied the nuptial knot on May 19 before a gathering of friends and relatives from all over Mendocino County. A reception followed at the Home Arts building at Ukiah Fairgrounds. Diane, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whitcomb of Pbtter Valley, wore a gown of peau de sole with cotton waist and wide panel of cotton lace.

Flared cuffs of cotton lace trimmed her long narrow sleeves puffed at the shoulder, and two tiers of lace ruffles trimmed her train which iell from the waist of her gowii, She wore a pilgrim bonnet trimmed in pearls to hold her elbow length veil, and she carried a cascade bouquet of daisies and yellow roses. Her bridesmaids, and matron of honor wore yellow batiste over taffeta, yellow picture hats and carried white daisies with yellow centers. Sherie Vattuone of Ukiah, niece of the bride, who served as her flower girl wore a gown identical to the bridal gown. Even her bouquet was the same as the bride's. Yellow and white gladioli and yellow daisies were used to decorate the chapel and the reception hall.

Cathryn Sant of San Francisco, the bride's sister, served her as matron of honor. Betty Pro(t, graduatiifg senior at was honored Tuesday night at a dinner party hosted by Jim and Donna Lake, with family; friends and Greater Ukiah Oiamber of Oommerce staff in attendance'.

Betty, ai member of the Chamber staff for three years, was inresented a gift of jewelry from the board of directors, in addition to other gifts. Miss Proft is the recipient of scholarships from the Mendocino County Legal Secretaries Association, Emblem Club and Ukiah Firebelles, and has received a Sr. elflxens planning fishing trip A fishing trip is planned 21 by the Progressive Senior Citizens instead of the organization's monthly potluck at the Veteran's Hall. The trip will take the group to Catfish Alley, Lake County picnic' ground Indian reservation, two and a half miles from the junction of Highways 20 and 29 going towards Lakeport. Seniors have been instructed to turn left at the ta-idge.

Meat and buns will be provided by the club. Each senior will take his own table service, water and a hot dish. Those who need transportation or wish further information in regards to the trip may call 462-4196. "Die senior citizens will all meet at the Greater Ukiah Senior Center, 601 State Street, at 9 a.m. to leave for Catfish Alley.

Tori; and friends Arthur and Audrie Avery, Francis Krch, Charles Gray and Mark Raymond.

Sending gifts but unable, attend were Chamber President Bob Axt and his wife, Jan and Adena Townsend, another member of the staff. The dinner and party was held at the Lakes' Valley home.
