Yon only sell once, so be sire at frvXjjvy On television LOS ANGELES "Dynasty" looks so much like "Dallas" that it ought to be called "Denver." Pred Allen once said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of television." Allen died long before he could behold "Dynasty," but in his brilliant mind he had seen it all already. "Dynasty" premiered last week with a Nielsen rating of 22.2, making glad the heart and rosy the expectations of everyone connected with it. In the TV industry, anything attracting a Nielsen number of 20 or more is a hit, whether it is "A Midsummer Night's Dream" or a mud-wrestling marathon. "Dynasty" is filmed here at 20th Century-Fox on a set that cost to build, one of the most expen-' sive sets ever constructed for a TV series. There is nothing cheap about this show but its conception.

Once the idea for it was lifted outright from "Dallas," no expense has been spared to make this copycat sleek. You can see the results tonight at 9, when ABC (Channel 6) will air the second episode of this glossy melodrama. Instead of J.R. Ewing, the master malefactor portrayed on "Dallas" by Larry Hagman, "Dynasty" centers on the business empire of a Denver capitalist called Blake Carrington. He owns an oil company called Denver Carrington, a stable of race horses and a professional football team.

He is said to be worth $200 million. Carrington is portrayed with mannered assurance by John For-sythe, whose voice, if not his face, is probably familiar to you. Forsythe's is the voice of Charlie Townsend, the always-unseen boss of "Charlie's Angels." If you saw the hit movie Heaven When the wedding cake arrived, the daughter stole the little bride and groom from off the top and bit. off their heads. The ultra-liberated daughter, Fallon Carrington, is played by Pamela Sue Martin, who only three years ago was the innocent heroine of "The Nancy Drew Mysteries." How time and virtue fly.

Carrington also has a son, Steven Carrington, portrayed by Al Corley. Carrington is sore at the boy because he is a homosexual. Carrington's ire was spelled out in the premiere when he forced his epicene heir to catch a cab home from the airport, instead of lolling in the luxury of the family limousine. Carrington likes his daughter better. Especially impressive last week, I thought, was the scene in which the daughter on horseback telephoned her father, who answered on the phone in his limo.

Having never seen anyone place a phone call from the saddle before, I'm afraid I gawked. Esther Shapiro, who wrote this nonsense, compares the narrative flow of "Dynasty" to that of "Steinbeck, Dickens and Dostoyevsky." She also said, in an interview here, that the show would have serious things to say later about such subjects as homosexuality and insanity among women. I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to such statements if I were you. Tiny Tim would have looked sharply out of place in Carrington's wedding reception line, in which Fallon told Krystle that the next man coming up to kiss her cheek was Brad Milburn. "He killed his wife three years ago.

Strangled her with her own pantyhose. Cost him half a million to get off." ir Gerace is paying top dollar for gold and silver coins. The exteriors for "Dynasty" were shot at Filoli, a 48-room mansion near San Mateo, that also served as the setting for Heaven Can Wait. It is the interior of Filoli that has been duplicated here on Sound Stage 8 at 20th Century-Fox. Last week's premiere, showed the sleek Carrington courting his secretary, a beautiful blonde named Krystle Jennings.

Carrington's mating dance was breathtaking to see: When Krystle said she would like Chinese food for dinner, Carrington flew her to San Francisco in his private jet to pick up chopsticks in Chinatown. In real life, Krystle would have been ravenous by the time she arrived, since Denver to San Francisco is not a short flight, but obviously realism is not the controlling factor where "Dynasty" is concerned. The lovely Linda Evans managed to look reasonably sensible while portraying Krystle during the premiere. Whether she can meet the silly demands of the rest of the season, of course, remains to be seen. In Carrington's mansion, reaction to Krystle's coming was not all positive.

Carrington's promiscuous daughter suggested that the love-smitten tycoon had "suffered irreversible brain damage from breathing too much dime-store perfume." 1i Ann Landers On Phil Donahue show 11:00 Tomb of Llgela (1965) Vincent Price, Elizabeth Sheppard.
