This program seeks to fund a range of proiects that have substantial local commitment, represent ail sections of the State, are consistent with statewide Smart Growth goals, and benefit the environment.

Proiects funded by the Enhancement Program could include urban greenways, rail-trail conversions, preservations of certain historic sites, landscaping, and pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and other projects. Eligible organizations include governmental agencies and non-profit organizations that have partnerships with governmental agencies. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss eligibility and selection criteria, funding requirements, the project proposal review and approval process, and sponsor responsibilities. This is a federally funded program under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-211. Funding is available under this program for the reimbursement of approved activities meeting all federal and state requirements, and advertised according to federal procedures.

Attendance is not required to submit a project proposal, but is strongly recommended. Proposals for the second round under TEA-21 must be received bv SHA no later than April 22, 1999, 8t 12 00 noon.
