Born in this city Dec. 7. 1870, Bishop McCloskey was ordained by Bishop Prendereast in the Cathedral on Dec. 17, He served tempo rarily In the Diocese of Mobile until July, 1899, when he was appointed assistant rector of St. Clement's Church here.

Returning to this diocese, he again heeded the call for missionaries and went to the Islands for seven years. He returned to the diocese again in 1916 but the following year was consecrated Bishop of Zamboanga. On Oct. 21.

1921, he was appointed to the see of Jaro-Iloilo, which was his residence until the occupation of the islands by the Japanese. Since that time there had been few reports on his health or whereabouts. Edward Gallagher, Sr. Edward T. Gallagher, of 5911 Frontenac an architectural draftsman for the Department of Agriculture Farm Securities, died yesterday at St.

Mary's Hospital after a short illness. He was 59. Mr. Gallagher's son, Edward T. Gallagher.

is a State Representative for the 17th Pennsylvania District, and his brother, George Oal-lagher is deputy City Fire Marshal. He is also survived by his wife, Mar-jorie M. Carr Gallagher, and a daughter. Marjorie M. Gallagher.

April 13 (A. The Vatican disclosed today that Justinian George Cardinal Seredi. 60-year-old Primate of Hungary and Archbishop of Esztcrgoin. had died of a heart attack. The death reduces the number of cardinals to 40, the lowest in modern times.

A native of Slovakia. Cardinal Seredi was entitled by his office to a seat in the Hungarian Senate, where he was active before the war in ad vancing Catholic principles and op- posing anti-Semitic measures. Mrs. William Murphy Funeral services for Mrs. Ella C.

Murphy, of 4420 Sansom will be held at 2 P. M. today at 1820 Chestnut with Interment In West I -mil el Hill Cemetery. She died Wednesday in Morrison's Nursing Home. 4401 Pine after a long illness.

He was serving with a tank division, and was employed at the Glassine Paper West Conshohocken, before his in duction.

WOUNDED SECOND TIME Private First Class Walter Koli- niaga, 19, son of Mrs. Hose Koll- maga, or izi r'ord west, tjon- shohocken. was seriously wounded March 15 in Germany, his mother was notified. Enlisting in the Army in Decem ber, 1943. while employed at the Kimble Glass he went overseas a year ago.

A brother. Technician Fifth Grade Stanley, who returned from Alaska last September, is now en route overseas. Walter was wounded once before, several months ago. Reported missing since Feb. 13 in France, Private First Class George H.

Burkhart, 37, was captured at that time by the Germans and lib erated by the advancing Allied forces three days before Easter Sunday, according to a letter he sent to his wife. Dorothy, and son. Carl 4, of 833 Wynncwood road. WOUNDED IN JANUARY Private Burkhart. who had been wounded last.

The infantryman went overseas last September, after serving with the Army division stationed here during the transit strike. Staff Sergeant William J. Schlachter received the Bronze Star Medal for heroic action in Holland on Sept. 20. 1944.
