Charming for its calm beauty are the figures in Benton Spruance's "End of Waiting," while an exceptional, almost mystical equality is found in the nude study of "Hyperion" by Weldon Bailey. Herbert Pullinger again indulges his fondness for the local historic scene in his impression of "Old Christ Church." and two strongly contrasted market episodes are those of Barbara Crawford and Ike Newport. Jimmy Dunn Gets a Second Chance in Films HOLLYWOOD. Feb. 10 (A. "Very few people get a second shot at a film career," says Jimmy Dunn gratefully. He's working in "Caribbean Mystery." and getting ready to attend the New York opening of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," the film that brought him back after a five-year absence.

Fourteen years ago Jimmy was top stuff in movies; he made "Bad Girl" and many other big films. Then things tapered off. "It was my own fault," he says. He went back to New York, "played cards in actors' hotels, played an old beat up ukelele and sang songs with my friends for fun." He finally landed a lead part In "Panama Hattie." He hoped that success would bring him back to Hollywood, but films remained cold. Then one day a girl who had been in "Hattie" was in a studio casting office When She heard a discussion as to whom they could get to play the good natured but futile drunken father in "A Tree." "Why don't you get Jimmy Dunn?" she said, and they did.

Got New Contract His work in the film got him a new contract. In "Caribbean Mystery," Jimmy was given a role with a Brooklyn flavor inserted in the rewrite job, to fix Jimmy up with a follow through on "A Tree," though the role is not as important. Dunn has lost 17 pounds, and is back to his "Bad Girl" weight, but In "The Tree" he kept the excess as it helped the role. Jimmy is a typical carefree comic grown a little older. He has no grey hair, and the hairline is holding.

He has that charm which twinkles in his blue eyes. I suspect he accentuates that blue by wearing blue shirts and ties. Twentieth Century Fox figured they've found themselves a star; Jimmy Dunn figures he's lucky to be back. 'It's an III Wind" The epidemic of head colds and sneezes that has kept many a studio shooting around various players this week has been written into the plot of "Man Alive." Rudy Vallee. Pat Brien and Ellen Drew all had head colds, and as the sneezes kept getting into the camera and on to the sound track, it looked like an expensive layoff.

Now, you'll see the story rewritten, with the obnoxious house-guest bringing his cold to the family. me comedy eiiect nas been en hanced by the change, and production hasn't been delayed. Greg ory Peck Top Favorite Of Producers By Louella O. Parsons Continued From Face 12 Is with the studios, and I must say it is very pleasant. It gives me a chance to make the pictures I want to make.

My last four have given me wide scope. 'The Keys to the Kingdom' was religious; 'Spellbound' with liirrid Bergman was a psychological mystery; 'Valley of Decision. starring Greer Garson, is Americano, a story of big business, and, of course, Dars of Glory was a Western. Nobody could ask for a greater variety." "If you like 'The Keys to the Kingdom, Peck went on, "youH feel as I do that we owe a good part of it to Father O'Hara, Jesuit priest, who was the technical director. Father OKara was Father Chisholm: he, too.

had lived in China and had experienced many of the vicissitudes that made Father Chisholm such a great human character." Interested in Theater Peck told me he has a financial Interest in the stage play, "Bell for Adano." "I'm going to have the chance to play 'Major Joppolo' In August hile Fredric March has his vacation," he said. Gregory Peck, who is new to many cf our fans, even though he has been in two already released pictures, is tall, slender, has very dark eyes, a nice laugh, and is very interested in the theater. An injury suffered in football has kept him out of the Army. After his lean days on Broadway, he is very grateful to Hollywood for his home, his wife and baby. His face lit up when I asked about his little on.

"His name is Jonathan." he said. "A family name?" I queried. Found It in Book "Oh. no, indeed." he answered. "We found it in a book of 3500 names, and it seems to fit him.

He's just the age of Ronald Colman's caughter." "You'd better introduce them." I said, remembering Ronnie's bundle of cuteness as I'd seen her last, cooing and trying to talk to her famous caddy. Nest year the name of Gregory Peck wul probably be on every poll, for there's no denying it, he's headed for big things, and his very sincerity makes me believe hell get them. There is no nonsense about him.
