IVo Testimony Taken Dr. Finely Carole Weep As Court Held At Scene Of Wife's Slaying LOS ANGELES (UPI) Dr. Bernard Finch and his red-haired mistress both broke down and wept yesterday as, with udge and jury, they revisited the wealthy surgeon's home where the state charges he shot and killed his estranged wife.

A regular court session was neld near the family swimming oool and in the garage where, it is charged, Finch struggled with his wife, Barbara, 33, and their Swedish maid. No testimony was taken but Superior Judge Walter Evans pointed out pertinent places such as a hole in the plaster wall of the garage where, the prosecution charges, Finch banged his wife's head, fracturing her skull. THE DOCTOR'S admitted mistress and former office receptionist, Carole Tregoff, 23, began crying when the courtroom party reached the scene. She had a handkerchief to her eyes and nose most of the time. At one point when Judge Evans advised the jury to observe where Mrs.

Finch's body was found on the velvet-smooth lawn, Miss Tregoff happened to be standing in the exact spot. She moved hurriedly away. During a recess called by Judge Evans, the 42-year-old Finch was allowed, to go the next-door home of his parents and see them for the first time in many weeks. He emerged from the house with tears in his eyes. Judge Evans started the session after the court reporter set up his stenotype machine near the swimming pool by saying: "Let the record show the defendants and jurors are present." THE JUDGE, the only one who did any talking for the record, then pointed out the door where the Swedish maid, Marie Anne Lidholm, 19, as the state alleges, came running through after she heard the screams of Mrs.

Finch on the night of July 18 when the tennis-playing society matron was slain. The judge, jury and defendants with their deputy sheriff guards then moved to the garage where Judge Evans pointed out the hole the size of a grapefruit in the inch-thick plaster. While the group was in the garage, Finch moved to one side and began pushing very gently a tricycle belonging to his 6-year-old son. The jurors lined the edge of the ravine and very gingerly peered over ft. From that point, the party walked down a flight of steps carved from dirt to a small lawn at the elder Finch's home.

It was here that the judge observed, "this is the general area, where the body of the deceased was found." He pointed to the spot where Miss Tregoff was standing and she moved away with haste. The visit to the Finch home fcided the court session for the day. The West Covina home sits atop a hill and on a smogless day there is a good view of the San Gabriel Valley for a distance of some 20 miles. Finch has been trying to sell the home.
