RANKIN, 81, of Wheaton, died Friday, July 11, 1969, at 4:15 a.m. A daughter of Rev. John M. and Anna Walz Wetzler, she was born Sept. 14, 1887.

Her father was the former minister of the Brick Church (Lutheran) in Armstrong County. She was the wife of Ralph C. Rankin, who preceded her in death, on Dec. 3, 1965. She was a former resident of Elderton and Shelocta R.D.

Born July 21, 1890, in Sports- Seven Negro and one white ministers moved into the North Philadelphia church Thursday in support of action by some 100 blacks who had seized the building July 3.

The blacks, members of the Black Economic Development Conference and a local community council, occupied the church for one week and opened its basement recreation area to Negro children. Organizers said they took over the building to open its facilities to the neighborhod. A recreation program at Cookman had been scrapped in January for lack of funds.
