In consequence of frequent applications to the Chief of the Bureau of statistics for information in regard, amount of cirquiating: medium in Great- -Britain, France and other European countries, and the wide divergance of statements op the part: of -Baropean as well as American financiers, an examination has been made of the published official statistion, and a variety of authorities apon the subject consulted with a view to obtain approximately accurate data.

The results of the investigation have been just prepared, from which it appears that the total amount of gold coin in circulation in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland at the close of 1872, was 085,661,000 sterling; silver, bronze, £1,148,000 excess of bank notes over coin reserve, total circulation in coin and note, £141,239,000, being equivalent in United States cola to $886,421,540. The metalic currency, nd bullion, of France is given at 4000,000,000 francs; notes al the Bank of France in circulation.on Dec 28, 1878, 2,807,689 625 france; total, 6,807,689,695 francs. Deduct metalic reserve in bank Dec, francs, and the currency circulation is 6,047,727.206 francs, equivalent in United States gold coin, at 20 cents to the franc, to 545,441. lo the twenty two States comprising the North German Confederation, the supposed "aggregate of coin is 632,455,869 thalers. The coin held in reserve by the banks to protect their note circalation is 100,000,000 thalers, leaving in the bands of the people 582,485,862 thalers.

The Dotes in the bands of the people amount to 253,159,149 thalers; making coin and notes in the bands of the people 604 thalere, equivalent in United States gold coin to $557,779,098. The prayer meetings held by the ladies of Wellaburg on Wednesday evening, in the saloon of Mr.

Springburn, and in tront of the one kept by C. W. Hassner, were of a most impressive character and were enough to move even the stoic. They were participated in by a large number of the fair sex, and it is evident that the movement in this place is on a rapid increase. H. Stickpey, a gentleman in a very feeble state of health, who has been for some time at the Buteh ers' Abbattoir in Brighton, for medical treatment, sim ply drinking a bail tumblerful of Warm blood twice a day.

The bay crop sold and mar. keted of 1870 was 27.000,000 tons, valued at $105,000,000. The Enquirer says he pledged himself to the "more greenback" theory last summer. THE BOSTON GRANGE. It Cares Very Little for the National Grange And Will Set Up Organization of Its Own. (special Dispatch to the Chicago Tribune) Boston, Feb, stated meeting the Boston Grange was held this evening and letters read from Marion Grange, No. 891, of Iowa, an organization in Brooklyn, and a member of the Massachusetts State Grange, asking the Boston Grange to take the initiative in an independent movement, and pledging themselves to support and extend it to the best of their abilities.

The following resolation WAs then adopted WHEREAS, The members of the Boston Grange became Patrons of Husbandry, socalled, in good taith and regular form and WHEREAS, Without having violated our obligations, we are declared not in good standing by the National Grange, so called, st St. Louis; sherefore, Resolved, That such action was contrary to the common obligation, which makes esch and every one a member of the Order, and was done simply to cast political power into the hands of a faction who seek the control of our State; therefore, That the Boston Grange is and ought to be, and we hereby declare ourselves, independent of 6 self constituted body known as the National Grange.
