2 Freshmen proved their superiority over upper classmen when they made a clean sweep of all the Founder's Day sports at Lehigh University this afternoon. The program, however, was curtailed to three events, football, tug war and a mile relay. Probably one of the best freshman football teams at Lehigh in many, many years defeated a team somewhat devoid of sophomores, but mostly juniors and seniors who comprise the junior varsity. The fresh clicked for four touchdowns and two safeties to roll up a 26 to 0 count. The game was played on a muddy gridiron and during constant drizzle of rain.

The fresh relay team of eight men, running 220 yards, negotiated the mile on a heavy track in 3.24. Running for the fresh were Bruce Thayer, J. L. Jaralomon, F. J.

Ralph Cummins, York, trainer and driver injured in the light harness races at the Allentown Fair two weeks ago when two pacers were killed and four drivers injured, continues to show slight improvement at the Allentown Hospital, but will be a patient there for some time. Hospital officials said that Cummins, who suffered a fractured skull and a spinal injury in the crack-up, must remain flat on his back for Tl days. He was driving; Petromite, a pacer owned by J. P. Coombs, of York, which was one of the two horses killed.

Harry Goodhart, veteran Reading reinsman, was another of the drivers more seriously injured in the mishap, but Goodhart was able to leave the hospital the following day. IN THE COt KT OK COMMON PLEAS. No. 4 for the County of Philadelphia. September Term.

Relatives and friends invited to service. The State of California will be well represented in the 100-mile National midget auto championship grind at Langhorne Speedway Sun day afternoon when the Nation's top-ranking pilots whirl around the one-mile Bucks county oval in the biggest racing classic of the 1940 season. No loss than eight drivers from the Golden Stat have arrived in the East to tune-up their small mounts for the century race. They include Mel Hansen, Sam Hanks, Ronnie Householder, Lyle Dickey, Cal Niday, Dee Toran, Duane Carter and Johnny Wohlfiel, all outstanding motor manipulators. ONE-LEGGED DRIVER ENTERED Niday, one-legged driver from Modesto, is the latest entrant from the Pacific Coast.

Niday will drive in the title race despite the physical handicap of having but one log. Cal's form this season has been most impressive and he has received flattering offers to drive three dif- i ferent cars in Sunday's big grind. Two of the biggest money winners in the history of the Langhorne track Al Aspen and Freddie Win- nai have filed signed entry blanks with Three A officials. Winnai and Aspen both hail from Philadelphia and will come out of retirement to compete in the small auto classic. LOCAL RIDERS TO RIDE Other local drivers scheduled to vie for speed supremacy in the 100-mile race include Charley Breslin, Jimmy Forte and George Fonder.

Bre.lm and Fonder have been consistent winners on the Three A midget circuit this season and will have a host of followers in the title grind. Both will drive Ford V8 powered midgets. Paul Russo, Duke Nalon. Charley Miller, Ted Hartley, "Red" Redmond, Johnny Ritter. Howard Dauphin, Cowboy O'Rourke, Frankie Bailey.

Bob Meyers, Henry Banks, Chet Gibbons. Tony Willman. Rex Mays, "Doc" Shanebrook. Harry Sheeler. Rex Records, Harry Hart, Buddy Rusch, Joe Garson, Bill Holland, Bill Morrissey and a number of oi her top-flight stars are listed among the 150 entrants received to date.

Brown Meets Szabo On Arena Mat Orville Brown will risk a string of unbroken mat victories covering a neriod of nine months when he climbs T-Vrv- foc KanHnr tnrougii me iw Szabo, Hungarian, in the windup of the initial 1940-41 wrestling program at the Arena Friday night. Szabo, too, is undefeated in more than 10 months of campaigning on the Pacific Coast. His only close call came when the Hungarian ace met Jim Londos for the undisputed world's title in Los' Angeles last June and succeeded in holding the St. Louis Greek to a 00-minute draw. Brown, a durable and tough performer, placed a claim on the world's mat crown after defeating Bobby Bruns five weeks ago at Kansas City, Kansas.

Bruns was recognized as the "world's champion" in a dozen States before his "title" contest with Brown, who flattened the Chicagoan in two straight falls. Five preliminary matches will support the Brown-Szabo battle.
