Complete Set Kith-Grade third game and then took the next three with the loss of only two points. Ho sent four straight scorching placements over in the final game of the match that left the gallery spellbound and amazed at such a striking performance.

30 PLACEMENTS McNeill tabulated 30 placements and one ace against 15 earned points for Hunt. Both registered nine placements in the first set, showing that Hunt could only manufacture six throughout the next two sets. McNeill had 17 less combined errors than Hunt with 25 nets, 24 outs and two double faults. Hunt won the toss for service at the start. He was unruffled when McNeill took a 40-15 lead and came right back to win the deuced first game with four consecutive points which included a pair of placements.

A double fault failed to keep McNeill from pocketing the second game to make the score 1-1. Breaking through Hunt in the third game on three errors and a placement, McNeill went ahead 2-1 only to have Hunt return the compliment in the deuced fourth game from 20-40, making it two-all. SERVICE HOLDS Service held for the next two games, knotting the figures at 3-3. At this Juncture Hunt injected the first love game of the contest by surging to the barier to drive McNeill out-of-bounds with volleys. McNeill pulled through the deuced eighth game on Joe's service and the score again was deadlocked at four-all.

the ninth Rame, Hunt Ud, 5-4. It was the last time he held the whip over his rival whom, incidentally, he had upset last September ln the nationals at Forest Hills, L. I. Came the 10th game with McNeill now definitely showing his all-powerful hand as he laced out a love game leveling the score at 5-5. Although the 11th and 12th games were several times deuced, McNeill accelerated his attack and prepared to whittle Hunt down to his size as he closed out the first set at 7-5.

HUNT CRUMBLES Then came the dawning as far as Hunt was concerned following the six-time deuced second game which produced the most sensational exchanges of the duel. McNeill hammered out five placements' with passing shots to assert his complete mastery. Hunt experienced a rocky road to reach the finals. He subdued Isadore Bellis, Penn. in the quarter-finals to avenge an earlier loss at Annapolis and then was called upon to dethrone Guernsey ln a two hour semifinal battle.

McNeill breezed along in the easier half of the draw, but his exhibition yesterday left only th3 impression that he could have beaten the entire field any day of the week. An upset occurred ln the doubles final when Stanford's "baby" team of Larry Dee and Jimmy Wade conquered Bob Peacock and Robert Harmon, University of California, in a spirited five-set match, 0-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. 11 Groups Seek Tracks in N. Reilly said commission members would start "looking the proposed track sits over" on Friday by visiting proposed sites in Monmouth and Burlington county. "Our action today doesn't mean," Reilly said, "that no further applications will be given consideration. The Eastern Tennis Team selected by Captain Walter Pate swept to a four to one victory over a youthful Western Team today by capturing the two remaining singles of the annual East-West tennis team matches at Allegheny Country Club.

Franklie Parker, 24-year-old Davis Cup star from Sea Bright, N. and Gardnar Mulloy, of Miami Beach, eighth ranking last year, accounted for the winning matches. KOVACKS BEATEN Parker, who defeated Welby Van Horn, of Los Angeles, member of the Western Team captained by Sam Hardy, ln the first singles yesterday, added Frankie Kovacs, of San Francisco, present California champion, to his list of victims today, winning in straight sets. With the steadiness that comes from experience, Parker put away Kovacs, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in today's first singles, assuring victory for the East. MULLOY TRIUMPHS Then Mulloy, "dark horse" of the Easterners, outlasted Van Horn ln the final singles to win in five sets, 3-6.

7-5, 5-7, 6-4. 7-5. Mulloy'S victory was patterened after his success of yesterday when he came from behind to beat Kovacs in five sets. The only victory turned in by the Western Team of all California players, was in yesterday's doubles when Van Horn and Jack Kramer, member of last year's Davis Cup team, beat the East doubles combination of Moulloy and Henry Pm-soff. of Coral Gables, formerly of Seattle, Wash.

In Scholastic Tennis Play MONTCLAIR, N. July 1. Three University of Pennsylvania stars, headed by Isadore Bellis, seeded No. 1, started ln quest of the Eastern intercollegiate varsity singles tennis championship in the 18th annual tournament which opened today on the courts of the Montclair Athletic Club. Without swinging a racquet, Bellis, who was beaten in the semi-finals of the National Intercollegiate championship last week, was in the third round tonight.

Drawing a first round bye, Bellis advanced through the second round by virtue of a default from G. J. M. Kelly, of Yale. Swinging into action tomorrow, Bellis will face Gerald Manhold of Syracuse in a third round match.

The other Penn players in the varsity singles are Robert S. Boyer, who also drew a first round bye and then gained a second round default from John P. Wendell, of Princeton, and Bartram Tesman, In one of the few matches of the day to go to three sets, Tesman went out of the running in the second round, losing to Richard Feuille, of Virginia, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. BELLIS-BOYER WIN Pairing in the Varsity doubles, Bellis and Boyer scored a first round victory over Stacy Hill and Fred Leopold, of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-2. Allan Wfintraub and Harmon Schaeffrr.

Penn's two entrants ln the freshman singles, both emerged victorious in first round battles. Weintraub was hard pressed to win from Arthur David of Newark University, 6-4, 6-4, while Schaeffer won quite handily from William Costello, of St. Lawrence, 6-0, 6-1. Richard McKee. of Minml University is seeded first in freshman singles.

Weintraub and Schaeffer are paired in the freshman doubles and in their first match tomorrow will oppose Henry Canda and Ward Cham-berlln, Princeton duo. Yesterday's Scratches (lly A. Pri ARLINGTON PARK 1 Dead Calm. FanTun. Judges Sister.
