Jan. 29. Resumption of the advnnee in the oil shares, which was later checked by profit-taking and a reactionary tendency in the rest of the list were the outstanding characteristics of today's curb market.

Buying of the oils was stimulated by the posting of a higher price for tiulf Coast crude and reports of on-other decline in daily average crude production. But closing prices showed mixed changes. Continental Oil, Magnolia, Solar Refining, Standard Oils of Kentucky and Kansas and Wilcox "Oil showed net gains of about one to two points while Gulf Oil. Imperial Oil, lrairie Oil Oas and South Pennsylvania Oil sold off a point or more below last night's tinal quotations. Further selling of the radio shares reflected the growing belief that all the good news in sight had been discounted, and the recent advance over-, done.

Losses of a point or more were recorded bv Freed-Kiseman, Garod. Thermiodyne, Thompson, Ware and Freshman. Hazeltine yielded nearly ft point despite the inauguration of dividends. Weakness also developed in the public utility group. The new Electric Bond Share stock sold down to a new low at oTs.

off or slightly more than one-half of what it was quoted in the excited trading few weeks ago. National Power Light broke 18 points to 1S-S, and American Power Light, Lehigh Power Securities and Middle West Utilities were off one to 2V4 points. Independent strength was shown by American Light fo Traction, which closed a point lower at 113. 20. Owing largely to 10c a bushel collapse in wheat prices at AV inni-pes. the Chicago wheat market today underwent a set-back of 4Sc. but later rallied a a result of persistent strenuous buying, and of unexpected upturns In the value of corn and oats. Wheat closed unsettled at '4 to 2ic net decline.

May $2.03 to $2.03 ai and July $1.7114 to $1.71. Corn scored 14 to 3c gain and oats 1 to 4a2Hc. In provisions the outcome ranged from 10c loss to 17c advance. Wheat fluctuations today carried May delivery down to within of $2. but the ensuing upturns lifted that month to only lc under yesterday's record high price, $2.05 74.

Reports that the Canadian Government might interfere if advances at Winnipeg became excessive were current here simultaneously with news that the Winnipeg market had weakened. Opinions that Europe would sooner or later follow advances in American markets helped' to stimulate fresh speculative investment. Corn and oats showed a huge increase of activity. Buying of oats In particular was of tremendous volume, and lifted cats prices to the highest level In some time. Likelihood of liberal export business in oats appeared to be chiefly responsible for the upward swing of oats and cocp.

Provisions advanced on account of government figures showing 12.O0O.000 fewer holdings than a year aco. The however, was effxet partly by packers. 961z 968 Sales in 1 000. Issue. 12 At! All of us have to put up with some inconvenience, so that all may get the greatest use of city streets and transit facilities. The first storm of 1925 brought within 4 days 461 serious interruptions to P. R.

T. service. Four out of five were due to stalled automobiles or other vehicles, or to other causes beyond P. R. T.

control. There were no major interruptions to service on subway-elevated lines, where P. R. T. has a clear right of way.

To help keep traffic open, 1100 P. R. T. men supervisors, switchmen, operators of snow plows and sweepers braved the rigors of, four days and nights of ice, 'rain, snow and sleet. Through their efforts no tie-up such as reported fromWashington was experienced here.

No sharp reductions were made in schedules as reported from New York and other cities in the East. P. R. T. is ever ready to meet such emergencies and is now fighting the present storm in the same way.

Every effort will be made to keep the cars running on schedule. Only a small percentage of all vehicles entering the business district are trolleys; and these carry nearly 90 of all persons bound to and from the down-town section, and use most economically the present limited space of our narrow -streets Fair enough, isn't it, to ask help of reasonable motorists? Many gladly co-operated during the last storm. Many more will surely be willing to place above their own desire to drive under storm conditions the convenience of the millions who are depending entirely upon P. R. T.

service for their transportation. Neb old 200 Std 20 Htd Oil Ohio old 358 onn Kvanwin Ftm-h "2534 25'2 Call evening.
