PAGE TEE BAIfcY MURPHYQEORO, MS. mm HAS NOURISHING GOOD TIMLAT PICNIC Hopes City Sisters Forgot to Count Callories and.Measure Waistlines By Arabella Pucker. FARM PICNIC This here is one day when our city sisters -cut loose, and forget 'all about their waistlines. Why right'-to ray right Is a blossomin brunette eating country butter on callories. To my left "is a 'withered blonde either on a diet or half starved to death what I know already cat one apple pie and is reac.hin for another.

it's good to see. Dern -a who wont eat when she wants to if she get it. We country wirarain dont sive it much thought. We do enough between suns to sort o' -work off the surplus and thns automatically get enough to eat and at the same time dont bother with goin to the beauty doctors. Me one, I believe a pound slice o' hickory cured ham, tucked in with a few and calibage slaw or somethin, and a slice or so o'apple or gooseberry pie with a mug o' milk with cream on it, is about the best remedy nature and the Lord ever provided for the complexion and the general welleing o' the human anatomy.

I'm never gonna forget the day when Mrs. So-in-So in West Walnut Street says to me when I'm deliverin butter about, meal time, says she: "Mrs. Pucker, yon jest must come in and have dinner, why you look famished, like you are about to drop. Come right on in now, I won't take no for an answer." Well, that was mighty clever her I was feelin a bit lank, so I hitched my puddle jumper to the curb and goes in and sits. whilst this here lady says to a girl in the kitchen to shake a leg.

Pretty soon she says "soup's on" and I says to 1 wonder if it's gonna be beef soup," for I'm a lover o' sood beet soup that aint been skimmed. Well, sir. we sits, the Missus whilst the girl puts on a little Dutch cap and comes in with a canary-sized bowl o' soup so plum clear you could see the bottom without squintin. An we drops in bird-egg crackers and sips. Were it delicious, well they wasn't enough to tell.

Then Mrs. So in So rings a tiny little bell and I says to myself, that's the dinnerell and were going fer to get something to eat. The same girl comes in, removes the' so-called soup bowls anti goes out. and comes in with what 'Mrs. So in So.

proudly intones is a special cavier sandwich. They's four o' them for each of us. two slices o' toast cut four ways, shaped, and I took the first at one bite toj see what it tastes like and it tasted to me like a cross atwixt a fresh sardine and a sardine not so fresh. The same girl served this here West Walnut street dinner in courses, an me with twenty more customers to call on afore I could go home. Well sir.

before we gets through. I'm so denied hungry I could eat a hound pup without satice. But I thanks Mrs. So and So and goes down town and orders a double portion beef roast a double helpin pertaters and a ice cream soda fer desert. I'm a believer in nourishment, body and mind.

This here Farmer Picnic is to my wy o' thinking about, the most nourishing thing the year ronnd. An the thought in my mind this here beautiful day as we contentedly bale way our vituals without dread thought o' how many callories or bugs we may be that our city sisters take a holiday from worry over waistline' measurement or pounds and ounces- over or under the. deadline, and relly enjoy a square meal. The ol Pucker adage is "Three meals a day keep the doctor away" and when a Pucker gits off his feed it's- time to call Doc Yak. AUGUST 32, 1929 in Uttfc Court BROWN By C.
