The Eva led a fleet of foremost river racing craft in a long SS nautical miles grind from liridesburg to Iteedy Island and return.

The race was the chief feature of the third rogatta of the Delaware I liver Yachtsmen's League, and was held jointly under the auspices nt tiie Columbia Yacht Club and Uridesburg Yacht Club. In addition to taking the Camden Yacht Club trophy down to the lliver-side Yacht Club for the following year, whose pennant she flics, the Eva also took premier honors i the class rating under for the league honors. The Eva made the long SS-milo griud in 1 hours. 41 minutes. seconds.

The race proved another tussle between the Eva and Ceorge Phillips' hla cruiser Mazeppa, of the Columbia 'lub. The Mazeppa was rated nearly a full point lower than the Eva, and consequently had an allowance of fully twenty minutes. In a stern chase, the Eva regained fifteen minutes of this allowance on the 44-mile stretch downstream to Jleedy Island. Shesmade the turn there less than tive minutes behind the Mazeppa. 15ut on the up-river run.

the Mazeppa. having repaired trouble with thy engine, started to hit on "all four." and it was not until the foot of Tinieu.n Island that the Eva succeeded in wiping out the distance between them. Then started a beautiful bow-ard-bow struggle between them which lasted until they passed Washington l'ark. when the Eva emerged ahead. At the tape the Eva led by minutes.

40 seconds. Former Commodore Charles AYal-berr's -Josephine, of the Riverside Yacht Club, took the premier honors in the lass rating over for the Eeague leadership, but was hopelessly out of the running for the Camden trophy. In addition the made the best tinio for the course, doing the SS miles in The boat was sixth in the standing as of all one class, but le 1 the larger class. Charles Mayer's Martha II. of Columbia, took second in the over lift class.

Commodore Charles llieber's Mascot, favorite in the large class, and winner of the trophy last year, was unable to start. This boat burned out her bearings early in the week and was unable to make repairs in time to start. Arthur Reach's irate of Riverside, was the only one of the teu starters which failed to finish the long run. The Eva did not miss a single fire during the whole course, while the crew aboard the Mazeppa were kept at her tower plant during the whole down-river trip. This is what told the story, and enabled this tiny Riverside craft to romp away with the Camden trophy, and with the under honors as well.

The high-raters never had a look-in for the" Camden trophy, owing to tidnl conditions and consequently had to be satisfied with their battle for class prizes. The Mazeppa was the first boat off yesterday morning receiving her starting signal at the Columbia Club at 4JJ0 o'clock. She turned the lighthouse at Reedy Island at 1O.10. making the run in hours 40 minHtes. All of the boats rounded the turn in their order excepting the Craee and Martha II.

The Grace was then hopelessly out of the race, while, the Martha II had passed two boats on the way down the river. Splendid weather conditions greeted the yachtsmen all around the course and the up-river drill was staged as a pretty battle. The high allowances of the ow-rated boats kept the high-raters out of it. for the slippage was too much for them. The Certy Yan, owned by William Ereihofer.

of Camden, surprised when she flashed across the finish in third place, less than a minute ahead of Craig Rrothers' Salome, of Riverside. A late start kept the open boats and glass cabins on their tip-river grind of 1'7 nautical miles from I'ride-burg to Rurlington and return until near nightfall. Herman Macht's Rose gained another triumph to add to her string in the open boat class over by a clear margin of more than five minutes. Steeb's Peggy, also of Wissinominjj. the scratch boat, was second.

In the other classes, McGregor's Cornell, of Eridesbnrg. celebrated her debut into the racing game with a victory in the smaller open boat class. son laurels. lliey will ride in three different events on the circular tracks at Providence. 11.

July 23 Billy Freitac's new speedboat, the Freda II, flvins the pennant of the Westville Power Boat Associa-fion, today romped away with tlie bonorsin the speedboat race on tlie upper Delaware River. The event was the third battle for the Commodore Freitas trophy this year. and the race was held from the Anchor Yacht Club here, under the auspices of the Delaware River Yacht Racing Association. The victory of the Freda II. brings to the fore-front of the yachtine world a new displacement racer.

The craft celebrated its entry into the racing game with a spectacular triumph today. A new wheel which was just installed durinp the past week more than demonstrated its etf ectiveness in the spectacular fashion in which the victor traveled over the course. Bv the victory a fourth race will be necessitated. Charles Eckerfs speedboat Romalda. of the Keystone Yacht Club, of Tacony, had two less on the trophy prior to today's race.
