Joseph Gotten, Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer are the high-powered starring trip of Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer's "Gaslight," which opens today at the State theatre. Phone 8175 Mayer production opening today at the State theatre, is exactly the doctor ordered. "Gaslight" is perfect war-time entertainment, and is made so by the story and everyone connected with the production of the film. The photoplay, relates how a beautiful young singer, played by Ingrid Bergman, marries her accompanist (Charles' Boyer) and moves the London house where her aunt, a famous singer in her day, was mysteriously murdered. The film moves rapidly and with a maximum.of excitement as Boyer deliberately sets out to drive his wife purposes which it would be unfair to relate here. You'll have to see for yourself the devilish ingenuity exercised by Boyer, and learn the reasons for it from the edge of your seat in the theatre.

The entrance on the scene of Joseph Cotten, as a Scotland Yard man, brings the picture to a gripping climax you'll long remember. The three stars turn in outstanding performances under the superb direction of George Cukor. Plans were made for a wiener roast to be held at the next meeting. Samples of feed used for feeding livestock and poultry were shown to the club members and discussed by Robert Dauberman, assistant county agent.

A contest was then held to see who could name the largest number of feeds. Mr. and Mrs. James Benton and son Jimmie and daughters Mary Jane and Alice, Mr. and Mrs.

Stanley Macidym and son Joseph, Mr. and Mrs. Charles George and daughters Rita and Jean, all of Portage, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maher in the Knob Run district.

'Mr. and Mrs. Harry Diehl and son Clair and daughters Mary and Doris of Knob Run were enter- tained on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Barish of; Portage.

They also called the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hufford. Mr. and Mrs.

Leo Reilly of near Marionsville announce the'birth of a daughter on Thursday, June 1. Both mother and baby are reported to be getting along well. Mrs. Reilly was formerly Miss Margaret Burket. The father is a Pennsy employe at the Altoona works.

The new member brings the children to No. 13. TYRONE Joseph Meredith, employed in the postoffice, is enjoying his annual vacation. Miss Betty Root, machinist in the Westinghouse, Pittsburgh, has returned after a vacation week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Phillip McNeal of 1413 Bald Eagle avenue. Thonias Smith and Miss Almeda Root of. Wall were recent visitors at the McNeal home. Dr. and Mrs.

E. R. Heckman, heads of the Methodist home, are in Ocean City, N. attending the jurisdictional conferences of the Methodist church. Dr.

Heckman is one of the delegates from the Central Pennsylvania conference. Mrs. Ethel Briggs and two children of Detroit. have returned after a visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs.

H. M. Lyons of 1313 Washington avenue. Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Hicks were very happy in the celebration of their nineteenth wedding anniversary on June 8. Charles Snyder is spending a season with his mother in Pottstown. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stroup and party of friends from Baltimore, have returned after a -visit at Mr.

and Mrs. Stroup's respective parental homes in Tyrone. Mrs. Lloyd Tyson and son of Detroit, have returned after a visit with Mrs. Tyson's father.

They attended the funeral services of a relative, the late Mrs. Emma Montgomery in Bellefonte. St. Matthew's Catholic church opened the summer church school today which will be of four weeks' duration. At the last regular meeting of the Catholic Daughters of America, plans were completed for the annual banquet which will be held at the American Legion home on the evening of June 14.

Henry Davis, proprietor of the -ogan hotel, has just completed the complete refurnishing and reequipping of the lajrge kitchens and a new floor was also laid. This completed a long list of alterations and repairs Mr. Davis has made' since taking over the hotel. Mr. and Mrs.

William Hamer of Bowser apartments have returned from Buffalo, N. where they visited their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Huckaby. They also had the pleasure of seeing their grandson Wiliam Huckaby who was home on "urlough from The district office of the farm security administration has been opened on the second floor of the ocal postoffice with Mr.

Noel in charge. The office embraces seven counties. Miss Eleanor Malley of Spruce Creek and Mrs. Gertrude Fulton of Akron, 0., have returned after a visit with their friends Dr. and Mrs.

F. C. Farrand. The Park Avenue Social club has just been formed with the following charter members from the west end of Tyrone: Sally Lafferty, Jane Robertson, Emily Layton, Jane Woleslagle, Dorothy Markle, Ann Smeltzer, Rhoda Gunsallus, Agnes Funk and Dorothy Ohrtman. The initial meeting was held at the home of Dorothy Ohrtman, who acted as president.

The meetings will be rotating and the president will be the one at whose home the occasion is held. Other officers are: Secretary, Dorothy Ohrtman; treasurer, Jane Robertson. The last training meeting of the Grazierville 4-H club was held at the home of the local leader, Mrs. Caroline Gates at Grazierville, and there were thirteen present. Miss Ruth Stamm, Blair county home economics director, is the teacher for the officers.

Miss Elsa Trad- burd and Miss Elsie Morray of State college supervised the group that conducted the model meeting and were very well pleased. At the last meeting of the Snyder township school board the budget was made up for the year and everything found to be in fine shape. The teacher situation for the coming year is also intact. Schools in this district are Grazierville, Ironsville, Northwood. Main, Mountain Orchard and Eighteenth street.
