Gold is cutting grapes this week. Frank Elswick and Ernest Link made a business trip to Neosho last Tuesday. Sam Elkins, who is living in Exeter now, was in Cartmell Sunday. Gerald McKinley of Eldorado. is visiting Gladwyn Gold this week.

Cutting and baling hay on the Clay farm has at last been finished. more than 6,000 bales which have been estimated at 1SS tons. Several from this neighborhood have been attending church at Goodman this last week. Mr. and Mrs.

Homer House spent last Sunday in Joplin visiting Mrs. House's mother, Mrs. H. A. Ritter.

W. S. Duncan came out from Neosho last Sunday to look over his farm and vineyard. Grape cutting is about completed around here, until the Concords ripen. There was a fine crop of the early grapes.

Word has been received by relatives of the death of Mrs. D. C. Pierce, July 29, at Taft, Cai. Mr.

Mrs. Jimmle Kincaid and granddaughter, Mrs. Helen Walgamot, left for Kansas City Sunday night for a visit with relatives. Delbert Harrison of Stark City transacted business in Fairview last Wednesday morning. Miss Chyrstal Early and Mrs.

Moso Speaks drove to Neosho Tuesday. Miss Early stayed over for the teachers' meeting Wednesday and Mrs. Speaks returned home after attending the Democratic committee meeting Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Chas.

Speaks of Lexington, and daughter, Miss Opal Speaks, and Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Fellers, also of Lexington, and Mr. and Mrs. Meb Speaks and daughters, Irene and Coralee of took supper at the home of Mrs.

Mose Speaks of Fairview Monday evening. Buster Garpentor returned home Monday, bringing his bride, who was formerly Miss Opal Steelo of Mineral Wells, Texas. Mrs Carpenter is a daughter of John Stoele who lived here many years. Friends of Blister in Fairview wish him a long life and much happiness along the way. Rev.

Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Wasson of Neosho and Jim Wasson of Springfield, visited with relatives he-re Sunday.

Mrs. Claude Pierce of Azusa, arrived Tuesday to spend a few weeks with her mother, Mrs. Lucinda York. Mrs. Fred Sikes of Joplin, Mrs.

John Goade and Mrs. Ordie Dillworth of Duenweg were visiting relatives here recently. Mrs. Martha Wilson of Wichita, is visiting this week with her niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Douthitt.

Vora and Orville Hardy of Stella are visiting relatives here. Rev. H. Pinkston, pastor of the Rltchey Presbyterian church, has been given a vacation of two weeks. He will resume his work here the third Sunday in September.

Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Bailey of Tulsa are spending the week at the home- of Mr.

The musical program that was given at the Christian church Sunday evening was very good and enjoyed by all. Miss Olga Hudson entertained a number of her friends Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs J. R. Underwood. The afternoon was spent in playing bridge.

Miss Helen Ropass has resigned at the postoffice and will go to Springfield to take a business course. Miss Jewel Nunn has accepted the position. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Repass and children of ittsburg, spent last Sunday with his mother, Mrs.

Mollie Repass. Mrs. Laurana T. Varner died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Oliver, of Baxter Springs, last Wednesday after an illness of only a few days.

She was 73 years old and had been a resident of Granby for over fifty years. She has lived with her daughter since the death of her husband, J. Varner, who died a few years ago. Funeral services Avere held at the Christian church Friday at 2 o'clock by Rev. Campbell.

She leaves seven daughters and four sons. Mrs. R. Neeley of Lamar is spending the week with her daughter, Mrs. Joe Hardenbrook.

Oscar Nunn of Picher, spent a few days last week with his daughter, Mrs. Mark Hannah. Mr. and Mrs. Claud McCurdy of Gary, came in Monday for a few weeks' visit with his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Ed McCurdy. John Q. Adams was able to be moved to his home last Friday from the hospital. Mrs.

Sile Kenney and daughter, Dorothy, returned to their home in Baxter Springs, Sunday, after a few weeks' visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Kooton. Mr.

and Mrs. Ed Lowthors and children left Sunday for Sioux City, to visit Mrs. Lowthors' parents. Mr. and Mrs.

Ropass and Mrs. Jack Carolyn were Springfield visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Wood of Eldorado, came in last week to visit relatives and friends.

Granby base ball team played Sulphur Springs last Sunday. The score was 7 to 4 in favor of Granby. Mr. and Mrs. J.

Reece Patterson are the proud parents of a baby boy, born last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. O. L.

Palmer and daughters, Misses Helen and Fay, of Eldorado. came in Tuesday to- visit with friends. They will visit their daughter, Mrs. Alfred Blunk, of Treecc, Kan. Mr.

and Mrs. Ed Slater loft Sunday for Columbus, whore they will live for the present. Mrs. Alice Sink died at the homo of John Tanner Thursday at one- thirty o'clock after a few months' suffering of tuberculosis. She was fifty-five years old and has lived in Granby for several years.

She was a member of the Christian church. She leaves two daughters, one in Indiana and the other in Chicago. Funeral services were held at the residence Friday morning, conducted by Rev. Campbell, and burial was in the new cemetery. and attended the district meeting.

Dinner was the grounds und all reported a good time. Misses Elsie and Hope Newell of Oswego, are visiting Miss Gladys Edge this week. Mrs. Shillings' daughter, Hazel, of Kansas City, is visiting here this week. Mrs.

S. H. Johnson of Webb City is among the visitors here. John Harris has sold the Tlpton Garage and has loft for Augusta, where he intends to make his home. Mrs.

Mildred Belcher of Kansas City has returned home after a week's visit with her mother and father. Hubert Finner who has been sick for some time is reported improving. Threshing is almost completed in this locality and everyone reports a good yield. Mr. and Mrs.

Oscar McConnell attended a family reunion at Wild Cat last Sunday. L. S. Edge is suffering with a sprained back which keeps him confined to the house. Four of Bert Gualf's family are down with typhoid fever.

They are be recovering; Luther Edge of. Ada, and Misses Elsie and Hope Newell of Oswego, spent Monday at Noel. James Testerman of Webb City visited his father, Presley Monday.
