In a move first reported in the News-Herald, it looks as if The Jim Rome Show will make the move from WKNR (850-AM) to WWGK (1540- AM), better known as KNR2.

The move will hurt Cleveland fans of the acerbic sports talker nominally, but it will really hurt fans here in Akron who might have to resort to streaming online. The signal on KNR2 is appreciably weaker than that of its sister station. And Rome no longer has an Akron affiliate. Add it up, and plenty of people might end up disappointed that they be able to get their fix of unique brand of confrontational sports talk show host. Why the move? the move made necessary because of decision to air Cleveland Browns Daily in that time slot.

Racers blow away Comets yet again NPF Softball Racers 11, Comets 0 By Fred Cay Special to the Beacon Journal The Akron Racers had it all working Friday night. Hitting, pitching and yes, defense, too. Make that big check marks for all three phases as the Racers enjoyed an 11-0 romp over the visiting New Jersey Comets at Firestone Stadium in a National Pro Fastpitch game. The weather was ideal for a change, too.

Perfect for taking out some frustrations as Akron (8-13) won its second in a row following a seven-game losing streak. Four runs in the first inning turned out to be plenty for rookie right-hander Ivy Renfroe (2-4) from the University of Tennessee, who allowed just three hits in spinning her first professional shutout.
