Mrs. Pound died Monday of cancer at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. She was 67. She was married to Skeiton from 1931 until 1943. but even after their divorce she continued for many years as his top comedy writer and business manager. She originated much of the basic material that the comedian has used through the years in his portrayal of such enduring characters as the bumbling Clem Kadiddlehop-per and ;the Mean Widdle Kid. She wrote some of Skelton's classic routines, such as "Where Do Babies Come From?", a sketch involving the Mean Widdle Kid, and "Guzzler's Gin." a pantomime in which the comedian, demonstrating his product, is overcome by it. She met Skelton in Kansas City, Mo., in the early 1930s, when she was a theater usherette and he was playing' in a vaudeville skit. She was critical of his act, and he challenged her to suggest better jokes for him. She accepted, and they were married soon afterward. In the early years of Skelton's career when he was performing on stage, he would rely on her hand signals, adjusting his jokes to the audience reaction, according to Mrs. Pound's business manager, Al Marsella. In later years she managed Skelton's business affairs as well as writing comedy material and producing some of his radio shows of the 1940s, Marsella said. Their close working relationship continued into the mid- 1950s, after they were divorced and Skelton mar- Edna Skelton Pound ried actress Georgia Davis, the second of his four marriages. Edna Skelton later married director Frank Borzage. They were divorced in 1949, and she subsequently married businessman Leon Pound, who died three years ago. Skelton released a statement through his secretary, saying, "She was a wonderful person who will be missed very much by the people who loved and understood her. I deeply miss the fact that she is not around." TOM BR0NZIN1 Pioneer in Personal Injury Law, Edward Pollock, Dies Attorney Edward I.
