He was then chosen by his colleagues as their representative to the general chapter of Maryknoll. Upon his return from Korea, Gerard was assigned to study at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu where he earned a PhD in Anthropology. After his resignation from Maryknoll, he received permission from the Vatican for laicization and later he married longtime friend, Bernadette Kim. Known to friends and family as Gerry, he was a Professor Emeritus of Kent State University and lived in Kent over 35 years with Bernadette. During that time they raised their kids to be democratic, strong and independent and he shared his love of golf, chess, good food, and music with his children.

After his retirement, Gerry volunteered at Akron General Medical Center, made friends during his regular exercise regimen at the Life Center Plus in Hudson, travelled with his wife, and entertained his grandsons both physically and virtually as much as possible. The family would like to thank the Akron General Visiting Nurses Services Hospice staff and especially the nurses Kathy, Ruth, Dianna, Shelly, Nancy and nurses aide Karen for helping ensure Gerard's comfort in his final days and his family through this very difficult time. Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22 at Bissler Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m.

to the late Einar and Lillian (Heideman) Iverson. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ravenna, Ravenna Moose 1234, Ravenna VFW Men's Auxilary and the Sons of the American Legion. Ralph worked for Sohio as an attendant and worked his way up to District Salesman. He served on Streetsboro City Council and was past President of the Streetsboro Planning Commission.

Survivors include his daughter, Ruth Ann Iverson; and son, Rick (Janet) Iverson, both of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Maria and Thomas Iverson; and special friend, Steve Summers. 330-928-2147 www.cliffordshoemaker.com Robert D. "Bob" Fehrman Robert D. "Bob" Fehrman, 87, formerly of Akron, died Saturday (March 16, 2013) at the Sycamore Glen Health Center, Miamisburg. He was born May 1, 1925 in Marietta, son of the late Del-bert Fehrman and Zerelda (Poland) Fehrman. Bob retired in 1978 from Sloane Plastics, where he was a foreman.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II on the Saratoga aircraft carrier. Bob and his brother, Russell, both served in the Pacific Theater during the war. He was a member of the Woodland Methodist Church of Fairlawn. He enjoyed woodworking and watching football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Wodich) Fehrman, who died February 19, 2013; three brothers, Russell, Ralph, and Roy Fehrman; and a sister, Ann Liddle. He is survived by two sons, Dave (Jenni) Fehrman of Cen-terville and Dennis (Irma) Fehrman of Diamond Lake, three brothers, Raymond (Mar-lene) Fehrman of New Albany, Richard (Penny) Fehrman of Newark, and Ron (Judy) Fehrman of Byesville; two sisters, Ruth (James) Callihan of Elyria and Esther (Hank) Canaday of Jenkins, a granddaughter, Brianna Fehrman of Centerville; a brother-in-law, Noel Liddle of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Joan Fehrman and Sondra Fehrman, both of Byesville; several nieces and nephews. "Teener" Haynes Cecelia M. "Teener" Haynes, 70, formerly of Akron and moved to Seville in 1997, passed away March 17, 2013. Born July 4, 1942 in Barberton, Ohio, Cecelia's special interests were astrology and giving. If you knew her well, she would ask you your birthday and always remember it and send you a birthday card. If she didn't remember your name, she remembered your birthday.

She loved watching birds and animals and taking care of them. She was the beloved mother of Gwyn J. (Jeffrey) Mitchell, Tess and Landen of Seville, Ohio, William (Sharon) Haynes of Florida; grandchildren, Gina Haynes, Clark Haynes; and great-granddaughter, Lily, all of Florida. He enjoyed using his computer and was an avid fan of NASCAR Daniel H. Mishler Daniel H. Mishler, 54, passed away in his home in Bay Village, Ohio. He was born and raised in Rocky River, Ohio, the son of Dr. Howard and Ruth (Gerlach) Mishler.

Dan obtained a BS in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA in both Business and Accounting from Akron University. He worked at Trionetics in Twinsburg and most recently at Winer Bevilacqua in Akron, Ohio. He shared his musical taste and inspirations on public radio for many years. His family and friends will remember Dan as a debonair gentleman, accomplished athlete, an extremely good cook, and an avid reader. He loved animals, especially his big furry regal dog named Larry.

He was predeceased by his father and mother and is survived by ex-wife, Amy Evans; half-brothers, Howard and William Mishler; half-sister, Mary Fallon; Aunt Margaret Gerlach; and cousins, Debbie and Randy Linville, Marilyn and Rick Domark, and Linda and Ed Severino and close friend, Leslie Bebensee. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Christopher Parish in Rocky River, with visitation prior. Interment will be private.

Johnson passed away March 19. Announcements later. (Rhoden Memorial Home, 330-724-1201) Gerard F. Kennedy Gerard F. Kennedy, 85, of Kent, died March 19, 2013 peacefully at his home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Born in South Ozone Park, Queens, New York City in March of 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Kennedy. He leaves behind, Bernadette, his wife of 43 years; Ann M. Kennedy, his daughter, of Arlington, his son, James F. Kennedy with his wife Christine, along with his grandsons Joshua, Joseph, and Alexander, of Methuen, Mass. He is survived by his brother, Peter Kennedy with his wife Pat of Laurel, along with seven nephews and nieces and 11 grandnephews and nieces, including those of his brother, the late Joseph Kennedy and his wife, Kathleen.

He was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1954 in Maryknoll, N.Y. In service of the Maryknoll Society's Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers (The Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America), Gerard spent three years in the promotion department where he logged over 250,000 miles driving between Boston, New York City, and Sioux City, Nebraska visiting schools and churches in cities and towns along the way to recruit students and raise money for MaryKnoll's missionary work. Frascello, 88, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on February 9, 1925, he was a graduate Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in June 1952 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Sal worked for Babcock and Wilcox for 29 years, 19, 2013. She was born in Akron on Sept.

She came to work in the rubber shops during World War II, met her husband and was married in 1947. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and going out to eat as well. Ethel is survived by her husband of 66 years, Albert O. Morris; sons, Albert J. (Annie), Jim (Ann), and William (Debbie) Morris; and grandchildren, Jim (fiancee Tiffany), Brian (Courtney) and Brittany Morris. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

We will miss him dearly. He remains in our hearts forever. Brian passed away peacefully at his home on March 24, 2012 at age 30. He is survived by his father, Dennis (Judy) Helsel; mother, Laurie (Mike) Stanovcak; grandparents, Robert (Rose Mary) Pepe, Kenneth Helsel; many friends and relatives. Cremation has taken place.
