The Baybrook Mall will be the first of many centers scheduled to open in Houston over the next 10 years. Homart, Sear's link to the shopping center industry, has been in existence since 1959. The first Homart centers began in the Texas market. In 1962, Seminary South opened in Fort Worth. It was followed by Hancock center in Austin, Military Drive Plaza in San Antonio, Town East in Mesquite and Valley View in Dallas.

Today, Homart wholly owns and operates 14 centers in Kentucky, Minnesota, Rhode Island, California and Illinois. The company has projected the opening of 25 additional centers over the next five- year period. "Professionals in real estate, leasing, construction, accounting, marketing and operations head the management team. Because of a trained in-house staff, Homart is able to manage a center from inception through its many years of operation. Extensive financial research and market data are compiled to determine the potential market area for each center.

If research indicates evidence of a strong potential market, Homart proceeds with the project. The center is then designed, constructed and leased to effectively serve' its market area. Once a center is in operation, it is run by a center manager, marketing director, and operating superintendent. Baybrook Mall is located in a growing area supported by favorable econimic conditions. Numerous industrial and residential construction operations support the area.

Expansion of commercial and business facilities continues. Petrochemical complexes of the Bayport industrial development project are major employment sour- ces. NASA space Center alone employs 9,000 persons. Homart feels Baybrook Mall will play a major role in Southeast Houston's continuing growth. Independent fast food operations line the north side of the courtyard, providing shoppers with a vast array of foods from which to choose in one location. The common seating area in the center will accommodate 364 diners at one time. At Baybrook's courtyard, the selection is diverse. The ail-American hot dog takes on many dimensions at Famous Ramos. For hamburger purists nothing can beat Burger Express.

Steve's Sandwich Shop offers a variety of deli-style sandwiches and salads. Italian Pizza and submarine sandwiches can be found at Pizza Subs. Barbecue enthusiasts will find a choice of pork, beef, and chicken at or Dan Tuckers Bar-B-Que. C's Chicken and Fish serves chicken and fish with all the trimmings. For a Mexican accent, Taco Spot features traditional south of the border treats.

Snack seekers can find refuge at the courtyard. Topsy's offers fresh popcorn, and health food fans will enjoy delicious yogurt concoctions at Frozen Yogurt N' Things. Ron's Ice Creamland and The Dipping Station will offer ice cream treats. Sweet tooth cravings can be satisfied with Tiffany's Bakery. Fresh baked goods are baked daily on the premises.

Chocolate chip cookie-addicts can find salvation at The Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Factory. Come to the courtyard and let your taste buds mix and match. Galveston Beach Band Plays The first sounds Baybrook Shoppers will hear as they enter the mall on grand opening morning will be the music of the Galveston Beach Band. Among selections performed by the group for shopper's entertainment will be the musical scores to the films Rocky and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The Galveston Beach Band will open the ribbon cutting ceremonies with the national anthem. Upon completion of the ceremony, the Galveston Beach Band will perform for an additional quarter hour.

The 24-piece band is sponsored by the City of Galveston. Under the direction of Frank Incaprera, the group is composed of school band directors for the local area along with college students and other professional musicians Let's print inflated dollars on balloons so we can get more bang for a buck.
