JOHN LAURENCE BAILEY The Former Glena Leigh Walker Walker-Bailey Rites Held In Dickinson Glena Leigh Walker and John Laurence Bailey were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony recently in the First Christian Church of Dickinson. The bride is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Joe G. Walker of Dickinson, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Hanley of Damon and John L. Bailey Sr.

of Sweeny. The June 9 candlelight ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. L. 0.

Leet. Music was provided by Ida Lee Leet at the piano, Carol Lamb Bledsoe at the organ and Marvin Bottera, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white organza and Chantilly lace fashioned with a square neckline, fitted bodice overlaid with lace and dotted with bridal pearls. The full bishop sleeves ended in lace cuffs. From the empire waist, the lace flowed over a sheer pleated panel forming a redingote effect on the front of the gown.

The slipper length skirt swept into a court length train. Her mantilla of French illusion and matching lace cascaded down the back of her gown to beyond the length of her- train. Her jewelry included a gold cross with a solitaire diamond insert, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bridal bouquet was a cascade of roses, babysbreath, lilies-of-the- valley and English ivy. Garthan Walker, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Devitt and Terri and Mrs. Doyle Kuehl of La Porte and Mike Ayers of Nacogdoches. After a wedding trip to Galveston, the couple is at home in Dickinson. The bride is a recent graduate of Dickinson High School and will attend the University of Houston in the fall. She is employed by the Dickinson State Bank.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Sweeny High School and attended the College of the Mainland. He is employed as an electrician with a Houston firm. The Says Congratulations Hornberger, both of Dickinson. They wore identical gowns of garden print organza in shades of green fashioned with spaghetti strap bodices and topped with short jackets with full pleated bishop sleeves. They carried nosegays of yellow and white daisies with English ivy.

Brent Walker, brother of the bride, served as best man. Groomsmen were Wade Cook of Dickinson and Victor Vaughn of League City. The reception was held in the Railroad Museum in Dickinson. Members of the house party were Moiselle Walker, aunt of the bride, Lois Glidden, Sylvia Hunter, Elaine Adams, Melanie Stafford and Robyn Yarborough. Special guests for the wedding were the bride's grandmothers, Mrs.

Ivazoe Rougeou of Dickinson and Mrs. Lillie Walker of Huntington, and the bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Edna Bailey of Dickinson. Also, Mr. and Mrs.

National Secretaries The Galveston County Chapter of the National Secretaries Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Flagship Hotel. A champagne party will honor Lillie Ann Aleman, Secretary of the Year. GCT The Gulf Coast of Texas AM and Sideband Club has cancelled its meeting today because of the holiday. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. in Nessler Civic Center in Texas City. AARP1759 Galveston Treasure Isle Chapter 1759 of the American Association of Retired Persons has postponed its business meeting today because of the holiday.

The meeting has been changed to noon July 11 in the recreation room of the Gulf Breeze Apartments. There will be a covered dish luncheon for members only. The princess silhouette featured a Mandarin neckline and long fitted sleeves. The full gored skirt and circular chapel train were bordered in scalloped Chantilly lace. A satin band encircled the neckline and extended from the neckline to the hemline with 'accents of satin- covered buttons. Her two-tiered veil of ivory illusion was edged in Chantilly lace scallops and held by a headpiece of lace petals and seed pearls.
