Haaa, age 53, of Anna, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000 at home after a 9 month battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 9, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Hugh and Jane, nee Burgan, Mur-nighan.

She married Robert G. Haas on June 16, 1973. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She is survived by her husband Robert G.

Haas of Anna; she is also survived by one daughter, Melanie Haas of Anna: her father, Hugh Murnighan of Hinsdale, IL; two sisters, Donna (Tom) Staab and Ann Murnighan, both of Chicago and one brother Dennis (Cecilia) Murnighan of Frankfort, IL; one sister-in-law, Laurie Ends ley of Sacramento. CA; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Her mother preceded her in death. A Memorial Mass for Joan M. Haas will be held at Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel Catholic Church on Saturday. June 24. 2000 at 1 p.m. with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. The eulogy will be given by William Geffine.

In each endeavor, Mr. Clegg, of Homewood, tirelessly worked to help people accomplish a goal or make them feel better. "He was a visionary," said Karen Allen, a colleague who worked with Mr. Clegg for more than 30 years. "He cared for people tremendously and he worked hard to meet people's needs.

Mr. Clegg, 61, a country boy from Nebraska who made a career out of his passion for helping people as a social worker and administrator, died Monday, June 19, in Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights. In 1973, Mr. Clegg was hired to start a mental health program at Metropolitan Family Services of Southwest Cook County. He began the project with a one-person staff and developed comprehensive adult and child mental health programs that served 5,000 people.

Working as a therapist, supervisor, administrator and mentor, Mr. Clegg was known among his colleagues as "Mr. Mental Health of the Southwest Suburbs." Still, Mr. Clegg's family members said his gratis patient counseling exemplified his work ethic. For two years, he allowed a former patient to call him at home at all hours of the day, whenever she needed help.

Born on a farm in Benkelman, Mr. Clegg did farm chores before riding a horse to a red one-room elementary school. Marvine was born August 1, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry and Mary, nee O'Brien, Ranberg. She was a graduate of Austin High School, Chicago, with the Class of 1941. Marvine married Lawrence E. Doyle August 3, 1946 in Chicago. He died May 27, 1983 in Elmwood Park, IL.

Marvine was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Elizabeth and a former member of St. Celestine Catholic Church, Elmwood Park. She was very dedicated to the Church.

Marvine enjoyed visiting the residents at the Elizabeth Nursing Home and also time spent with her family. Marvine's family includes four sons, Lawrence J. (Roberta) Doyle of Melrose Park, IL, Kenneth L. (Christine) Rom-pala Doyle of Elmwood Park, IL, John Doyie of Galena, IL and Richard (Jennifer) Doyle of Elizabeth, IL and two daughters, Mary M. (James) Danz of Schaumburg, IL and Kathy (Niles) West-phal of Hazel Green, Wl; nine grandchildren, Air Force Staff Sergeant Lawrence G.

In 1969 singer-actress Judy Garland died at 47. In 1970 President Richard Nixon signed a measure lower- ing the voting age to 18 from 21. In 1981 Mark David Chapman, 26, pleaded guilty in New York to murdering ex-Beatle John Lennon on Dec. 8, 1980. In 1983 astronauts aboard space shuttle Challenger deployed and retrieved a satellite, using the shuttle's mechanical arm.
