SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 1999 GALVESTON COUNTY, TEXAS Galveston Youth Leadership Award Winners Cavazos Amanda Cavazos Amanda Cavazos is a Bail High School senior and is National Honor Society president, newspaper editor- in-chief, Mu Alpha Theta secretary and a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the National Vocational Technical Honor Society. Her community service includes Special People's Ball, Ronald McDonald House, Adult Literacy Program and peer tutoring. She is a dual admissions student at Galveston College. Dominic Etienne Dominic Etienne is a Ball High School senior and is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, German Honor Society and the Ball High Student Council. His community services includes Special People's Ball, Special Olympics, Share Your Christmas Food Drive and Toys for Tots.

Dominic is a Channel 11 News Scholar Athlete. He is a dual admissions student at Galveston College. Silpa Gadiparthi Silpa Gadiparthi is a Ball High School senior and is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Interact About these awards Eighteen Ball High School students and two O'Connell High School students have been named recipients of the 1999 Galveston Youth Leadership Awards. The 20 high school seniors were chosen by faculty judges at the schools based on academic integrity, cultural awareness, physical fitness and community, service. The students will be honored at a banquet on April 29 at Galveston College.

At the banquet, three top award winners will be named. The first place winner will be named the recipient of the Jay Vanderpool Memorial Scholarship, a $3,000 award. The second place winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship, and third place winner will be awarded $500. The Galveston Youth Leadership Awards are sponsored by the Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund, the Jay Vanderpool Memorial Scholarship Fund, The Galveston County Daily News and Galveston College. Morgan Etienne Gadiparthi Club, Anchor Club, Key Club and tennis team.

Her community service includes Ronald McDonald Fun Run, Special Olympics, beach and city clean-ups, Share Your Christmas Food Drive and Galveston College tutoring. She is a dual admissions student at Galveston College. Tiffany Gerondale Tiffany Gerondale is a Ball High School senior and is a member of the Key Club, Interact Club, Math Honor Society, U.S. Lifesaving Association and Fellowship Christian Athletes. Her community involvement includes Schreiber Park volunteer, Galveston Little League, beach clean-up, Special Olympics, Our Daily Bread Ronald McDonald House, Share Your Christmas Food Drive and St.

Vincent's House. She is a dual admissions student at Galveston College. Nancy Hite Nancy Hite is a Ball High School senior and is opinion editor of the newspaper, vice president of the'lnteract Club, secre- taryofthe Key Club, president of the German Honor Society and a member of the forensics team. Her volunteer work includes the Jessica Cain recovery project, school area clean-up, can food drive, Women's Crisis Center donations and organization of the Key Club's participation in the state-wide "Adopt a Senior Citizen home." She is a dual admissions student at Galveston College. Undsey Hopkins Lindsey Hopkins is a Ball High School senior and is ranked fifth in her class.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Hopkins Gerondale Vocational Technical Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Anchor Club and Interact Club.
