Phoenix cnange tne personality of yorr. home and yet avoid extravafsirYs is said to nave been developed and exploited to the fullest possible advantage by Dr. Will Durant, the Internationally known author and publicist, who will present his lecture, "The Crisis in American Civilization," in the high school auditorium here Friday, February 26. The lecture will be a feature of the University of Arizona artist-lecture series. Dr.

Durant is said to have made the scholarly subject of philosophy exciting and intelligible to the average man. His "Story of Philosophy," of which several hundred thousand copies have been sold, is widely read. A high point in his career will be "The Story of Civi-llzation, xin which he will undertake to trace the historical, the ethnological, the political, social and cultural evolution of mankind. The first two volumes of this work, to which he has dedicated the next 25 years of his life, were published in 1935. He spent ssveral months last year in the Mediterranean countries collating material for the next volumes of the work.

In his lecture here Dr. Durant will undertake to analyze the political and social trends which are governing the destiny of the modern world. Dr. Durant is said to be one of the few American authorities upon classic philosophies, who has been able to present the broad outlines of this subject in a form which is intelligible to the layman. He is likewise an authority on political science and has successfully treated this subject in articles for the popular magazines, in books and on the lecture platform.

2 can) lVi cups sugar IV cups cherry juice 1 tablespoon plain gelatin cup cold water cup broken nut meats (black walnuts preferred) Dash of cinnamon pint whipping cream, whipped Soak the gelatin in the cold water. Heat the sugar and cherry juice and cinnamon to the boiling point stir to make sure sugar is dissolved. Add the soaked gelatin to the hot juice and allow to set in a cold place until a soft quivery jelly is formed. Carefully fold the cherries and broken black wal- nut meats so that they remain in suspension. Pour the mixture into a cold crisp, freshly baked pie shell and allow it to become firm before topping wtih whipped cream.
