A very Interesting meeting was held and delicious refreshments were served. A farewell party was held Friday evening, Aug. 29, in honor of Gladys Kooken, who entered training for a 1 nutse at th Altoona hospital on Monday. The class of 1630 and a few friends gave the party.

The evening was spent in playing cards and dancing. Nick Kapondf on Friday evening, Sept. 4, in honor of Miss Violet Speck. The party was a complete Violet, who had gone to Mill Creek to visit on Thursday and who on returning was requested to go over to the house for some article. After she turned on the lights in the house she was confronted by a group of her friends who had gathered to 'help her celebrate her sixteenth birthday. Violet received a large number of nice gifts, also two large, birthday cakes were presented to het during the evening.

GABLE STYLE SHOW STARTS SATURDAY, SEPT. 20TH MOMTUN10N The annual retreat of the Presby- Urlal society of Presbytery of Huntingdon was held on Tuesday at Birmingham seminary. The meeting was itt charge of Mrs. Mary W. lln, president of the organisation, and it was of great inspirational value to all who attended from the various parts of the Presbytery.

The presidents of. societies of the various churches in the Presbytery were invited to attend. From this city were Mrs. Mary K. Gifford, recording secretary of the Presbyterial; Mrs.

A. M. B. Wagner, secretary ot stewardship, also president of the local Woman's Missionary society; Mrs. Charles H.

Welch, president of the Sixth district, and Mrs, S. H. Wharton, president of the Anna Campbell Missionary society of the local church. Luncheon wai served in the seminary dining room, and the quaint, beautiful porches and rooms were thrown open to the visitors of the day. The members of the Anna -Campbell Missionary society with their president, Mrs.
