Chairman Kavanagh said yesterday, however, that one of the property owners had named $15,000 as the price he would be willing to take for his land, which, he said, is actually worth about $3000. "That is the proportion in which all the others are furnishing us prices for which they, will sell," be said. In view of the deficit in educational funds it is said that such prices would make it absolutely impossible for the purchase to be made. No little objection was felt by a number of members of the Board of Education to buying the site, as the Seventh section is already well provided with school buildings which are not filled with pupils, and the high funis asked for the land may mean the refusal of their request. It i expected that the committee will report on the matter before the board meets on Tuesday next.
